27 "Decembr' 1621".
In the name of God Amen. In the yeare of our Lord God 1621. the twentie seaventh day of December, I John French of nether heyford in the parish of Bugbrooke in the countie of Northampton husbandman being sicke and diseased in my bodie but of good and perfect memorye (thanks be to god) do make and ordayne this my Last will and Testament in manner and forme followinge First I bequeath my soule into the hands of almightie god my maker and redeemer and my bodye to be buried in the Churchyard of Bugbrooke aforesaid. Item I give to the Mother Church of Peterburrough four pence. Item I give to the Church of Heyford twelve pence. Item I give unto eight of the poorest in the towne of Heyford one stride of Barlye to be equally divided among them, by my executor and the churchwardens of Heyford for the time beinge. Item I give unto Thomas French my sonne five pounds to be paid unto him within three years next after my decease Item I give unto John French my sonne other five pounds to be paid unto him at one and twentie years of age. And I will that my two sonnes Thomas and John should be ayduize and assistinge their mother in mannaging the yard lands which I have from John Billinge of Wedon Derry? the lease moreover my will is that if either of my sonnes do departe this life before the times limited for the receivinge of their porcons the other surviving that then that part or porcon of the deceaseds shall remayne and be due to the survivor. Item I give unto Willm French my godchild and my brother his sonne foure shillings to be paid within three monthe next after my decease. All the rest of my goods and chattells my debts and legacies being paid and my funerall discharged, I doe give unto Elizabeth my wife whom I do make my full and whole executris of this my last will and Testament to see the same trulye performed and my bodie honestly buried.
