Research Notes:

1794 On 5 April, John and Margaret Bailey and Henry and Elisabeth Gunkle sold land to George Ehrman. Henry Gunkle and John Bailey had purchased the land as tenants in common from Michael and Elizabeth Lau in 1792. [1]

1798 John, Jacob, George, and Daniel Bailey were all named in the U.S. direct tax list for Shrewsbury Twp, York County. [2]

1800 John Bailey (age 26-44) lived in Shrewsbury Twp, York County, Pennsylvania. [3]

1800 Eva Ruhl, daughter of Heinrich Ruhl and Margreda, was born on July 17. Johann and Margretta Bäly were sponsors. [4] [5]

1802 On 2 April, John and Margaret Bailey of Shrewsbury Twp, York County, Pennsylvania, sold land to Christian Geisy. The land was in several tracts previously owned by George Kleinfelter and Jacob Kauffelt. [6]

1803 On May 16, John Bailey warranted land in Codorus Twp, York County. [7] [8] The land was adjacent to several other tracts owned by John Bailey. [9] and by John Boyer, George Kleinfelter. [10]

1804 On 17 March, John and Margaret Bailey of Shrewsbury Twp, York County, Pennsylvania, sold land to the trustees of Jerusalem Church. The land was previously owned by Michael and Mary Elizabeth Kleinfelter. [11]

1804 On 2 April, John and Margaret Bailey of Shrewsbury Twp, York County, Pennsylvania, sold land to John Boyer. The land was in several tracts previously owned by George Kleinfelter and Michael Kleinfelter. [12]

1820 John Baily lived in Codorus Twp, York County, Pennsylvania in a household with males: 1 (under 10) and 1 (45 and over); and females: 1 (10 thru 15) and 1 (26 thru 44). [13]

1830 John Bailey lived in Codorus Twp, York County, Pennsylvania in a household with males: 1 (50 thru 59); and females: 1 (20 thru 29) and 1 (40 thru 49). [14]

1840 John Bailey lived in Codorus Twp, York County, Pennsylvania in a household with males: 1 (60 thru 69); and females: 1 (10 thru 14) and 1 (60 thru 69). [15]

1841 The will of John Bailey of Codorus Twp was dated on March 18. The will was confirmed by witnmesses on April 2. The will named wife Margreta and Mary Moyer (under age 18). Mary was to care for Margaret and "behave herself". After the death of Margret, the estate was willed to friends John Ruhl (perhaps husband of John's sister Anna Rosina) and Jacob Kerchner (husband of John's sister Susanna), who were also named as executors. The will was witnessed by Samuel Ruhl, Levi Bahn, and John Miller. [16]

1841 John Bailey died on March 3 at age 68 years, 3 months, 7 days (birth 16 December, 1772) and was buried at Fissell's cemetery. [17]

1851 Margaret Miller Bailey died on October 9 at age 77 years, 9 months, 20 days (birth 19 December, 1773) and was buried at Fissell's cemetery. [18]
