1860 Jessie Hoffman (age 27, born in Pennsylvania) lived in Albion Twp, Noble County, Indiana, in a household with Nancy Hoffman (age 23), Josephine Hoffman (age 4), Flora Hoffman (age 1), and Isaac Aris (age 21). [1] [2]

1862 Jesse Hoffman purchased lots 2 and 7 in Harvey's addition to Albion, Noble County, Indiana from Owen and Elizabeth Black. [3]

1862 Jesse Hoffman purchased lots 13 and 14 in Daniel's addition to Kendalville, Noble County, Indiana from Orrin Monger. [4]

1865 Jesse and Nancy Hoffman sold lots 13 and 14 in Daniel's addition to Kendalville, Noble County, Indiana. [5]

1865 Jesse Hoffman purchased lot 26 in Harvey's addition to Albion, Noble County, Indiana from William McClelland. [6]

1870 Jesse Hoffman (age 36, born in Pennsylvania) lived in Albion Twp, Noble County, Indiana, in a household with Nancy C Hoffman (age 34), Josephine Hoffman (age 13), Flora E Hoffman (age 9), Arthur Hoffman (age 6), Thurlow Hoffman (age 5), Hunnte Dubois (age 19), and Sand Dubois (age 17). Jesse Hoffman's occupation was wagon maker. [7] [8]

1880 Jessie E. Hoffman (age 47, born in Pennsylvania, married) lived in Albion Twp, Noble County, Indiana, in a household with Nancy C. Hoffman (age 44), Aurther Hoffman (age 18), and Thurlo A. Hoffman (age 16). Jessie E. Hoffman's parents were both born in Pennsylvania. Jessie E. Hoffman's occupation was wagon maker. [9] [10]

1890 Arthur Hoffman and Clara L Jackson were married on October 15 in Albion, Indiana. Arthur Hoffman was a son of Jesse Hoffman and Nancy E Ayres. [11]

1897 Jesse Hoffman lived in Noble County, Indiana when his brother, Adam Hoffman, died. (see the estate record of brother Adam Hoffman)

1897 J. E. Hoffman received a telegram from Marion, Indiana, Tuesday which imparted the news of the death of his grandson, the eldest son of Arthur Hoffman and wife. [12] [13]

1900 Nancy C Huffman (born in Ohio in Nov 1837, married for 45 years), wife, lived in Albion Twp, Noble County, Indiana, in a household with Jessie E Huffman (age 67). Nancy C Huffman's parents were both born in New York. Nancy C Huffman had had 4 children, 4 still living. [14] [15]

1910 Jesse E Hoffman (age 77, born in Pennsylvania, married for 54 years) lived in Albion Ward 2, Noble County, Indiana, in a household with Nancy C Hoffman (age 73). Jesse E Hoffman's parents were both born in Pennsylvania. Jesse E Hoffman could read and write. Jesse E Hoffman's occupation was carriage builder, Home Shop, own account. [16] [17]

1914 An abstract of the will of Nancy Ayers Hoffman reported: " Hoffman Nancy C, died 8-13-1914. Fd: 8-19-1914. Sp: Jesse E. Ch: Arthur, Thurlow A Hoffman, Flora E Garmier, Josephine Hoyt."

1914 Nancy C Ayers Hoffman died on August 13 and was buried at Rose Hill Cemetery, Albion, Noble County, Indiana. Nancy C Ayers Hoffman was born on November 29, 1836. [18] [19]

1920 Jesse Hoffman died on February 28 in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio of chronic dysentary and old age. Arthur Hoffman (Jesse's son, with the same address as Jesse), the informant, did not report Jesse's parents names. Jesse was retired and widowed at death. [20]

1920 Jesse E Hoffman died on February 28 and was buried at Rose Hill Cemetery, Albion, Noble County, Indiana. Jesse E Hoffman was born on March 26, 1833. [21] [22]

1920 An obituary for Jesse Hoffman reported [23]:

Hoffman Jesse, son of Adam and Susan Hoffman, and the youngest of ten children, was born in York Twp, York County, Pennsylvania, March 26, 1833, and died at the home of his son, Arthur Hoffman in Cleveland, Ohio, February 29, 1920, aged eighty-six years, eleven months and three days. All of his brothers and sisters preceded him to the other shore. When a small boy he moved with his parents to Crawford County, Ohio, where his mother died in 1839. In 1840 he went to Morrow County, Ohio to reside with relatives. When he arrived at the age of nineteen years he became an apprentice to learn the wagon makers' trade, where he served two years becoming very proficient in his work. On (unreadable) Albion, where he remained a continuous resident until his demise, with the exception of the last few years when he made his home with his children, the greater part of this time at the home of his son. On April 27, 1855, he married Nancy C. Ayers, and they had two sons, Arthur of Cleveland, Ohio, Thurlow A., deceased; two daughters, Josephine, deceased, who was the wife of M. R. Hoyt of Branch County, Mich., and Flora, wife of H. G. Garmire of Marion, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his companion August 1914, son Thurlow and daughter Josephine. He is survived by one son, Arthur, one daughter, Flora, six grandchildren. He united with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in 1859 and was engaged in the wagon and carriage making trade in Albion from the year 1853 until a few years previous to his death. The obsequies were held at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in this city Tuesday. Burial, Albion Cemetery.
