1820 Lucinda Dennis was born in Baltimore, Maryland. [1] [2]

1823 Samuel Hoffman was born in York County, Pennsylvania. [3] [4]

1843 Samuel's brother-in-law, Elah Dennis, learned the trade of wagon-making in North Woodbury and worked with Samuel Hoffman. [5]

1845 Samuel Hoffman and Lucinda Devins were married on April 2 in Richland County, Ohio. [6] [7]

1846 Samuel Hoffman was taxed in Rule's addition, Woodbury Twp, Richland County, Ohio. [8]

1850 John Ruhl and wife Susannah and Morgan Levering and wife Mary sold lots #25-27 in Woodbury, Morrow County, Ohio to Samuel Hoffman. Dated April 17. [9]

1850 Samuel Hoffman (age 27) a wagonmaker with estate valued at $900, and Lucinda Hoffman (age 29, born Maryland) lived in Perry Twp, Morrow County, Ohio with children Mary C Hoffman (age 4) and Martin L and Allen M Hoffman (twins, age 4 months). The children were born in Ohio. [10] [11] [12]

1851 Samuel Hoffman sold land to John Hoffman, both of Morrow County, Ohio. Dated August 6. The land was 71 acres in lot 8 near lands of Hanklin, Coleman, and Layback and by Layback Road in range 15, twp 7, section 1. [13]

1857 S. Huffman owned 60 acres in section 20, Perry Twp, Morrow County, Ohio, as shown on an 1857 platt map. [14]

1860 Samuel Hoffman (age 37), a farmer with estate valued at $3000+$700, and Lucinda Hoffman (age 39, born PA) lived in Perry Twp, Morrow County, Ohio with children Mary C Hoffman (age 14), M Luther Hoffman (age 10), Sarah Hoffman (age 8), Zingly Hoffman (age 4), Franklin Hoffman (age 3), and Jacob Hoffman (age 1). The children were born in Ohio. Samuel's estate was valued at $800. Living with them were Samuel and Catherine Dennis, both age 65 and born in Maryland. These were likely Lucinda's parents. 1870 Samuel Hoffman (age 48), a farmer with estate valued at $4000+$200, and Lucinda Hoffman (age 50), born Maryland, lived in Perry Twp, Morrow County, Ohio with children Luther Hoffman (age 20), Swingley Hoffman (age 15), Franklin Hoffman (age 13), Jacob Hoffman (age 10), and Sarah E Hoffman age 18). In the same household were Elizabeth Hoffman (age 35), born Ohio, and apparent children Emmerson Hoffman (age 10), Albro Hoffman (age 8), Flora Hoffman (age 5) and Floris Hoffman (male, age 4). Their Post Office was in Lexington, Richland County, Ohio. Samuel's sister Mary C and Jacob Thuma were listed adjacent. [17] [18]

1880 Samuel Hoffman (age 57, born in Pennsylvania, married) lived in Perry Twp, Morrow County, Ohio, in a household with Lucinda Hoffman (age 59), Luther Hoffman (age 29), Swingly Hoffman (age 24), Frank Hoffman (age 23), and Jacob Hoffman (age 21). Samuel Hoffman's father was born in Pennsylvania and his mother was born in Maryland. Samuel Hoffman's occupation was farmer. [19] [20]

1890 Letters of administration on the estate of Samuel Hoffman of Morrow County, deceased, were granted to S D Hoffman [perhaps son Swingly D Hoffman], who accepted said appointment. Dated June 24. [21]

1890 Samuel Hoffman died on February 22 in Columbus, Residence: Perry Twp, Born: York County, Pennsylvania, due to gang. lungs. [22]

1890 Widow Lucinda Hoffman died on December 30, in Perry Twp. Residence: Leverings, Born: Maryland, cause apoplexy. [24]

1890 Lucinda Hoffman died on December 30 and was buried at Woodbury Cemetery, North Woodbury, Morrow County, Ohio. [25] [26]

1890 Samuel and Lucinda Hoffman were buried at St. John's Cemetery, Perry Twp, Morrow County, Ohio. [27]

1929 Jacob Hoffman died on July 21, in Columbus, Franklin County, Ohio. He was born on June 9, 1860 to parents Samuel Hoffman and Lucinda Dennis. His residence was Mt Vernon. He was a farmer. [30]
