On the prayer of Margaret, wife of Peter Gerverich and widow of Clemens Ruhl, the court appointed Frederick Ruhl of Shrewsbury and John Ruhl of Codorus as guardians for the minor issue of Clemens, viz. John (aged 12), Susana (9), Magdalena (7), Peter (4), Henry (2). Dated February 25. [27] [28]

[53] John Ruhl patented the tract with 31 acres in 1790. [54] [Photocopy, 1788 Survey of several John Ruhl tracts. Survey C195-37.]

1789 John Ruhl warranted 164 acres in Codorus Twp, York County, Pennsylvania on September 11. [55] The re-survey of 1788 refers to an original inaccurate survey made in 1768 of 75 acres of land intended for Christian King and John Ruhl [Rule] by application 4853 dated 17 March 1768 (perhaps related to PA survey A57-246, dated 1776). Adjacent tracts were owned by William Baker (part of which was purchased by John Ruhl) and Jacob Hetrick. [56] John Ruhl received a patent for the 163 acre tract in 1789. Son John, perhaps, was listed adjacent. The listing is alphabetical, so proximity in the listing might not be related to proximity of residence. [58]

1791 John and Helena Ruhl of Codorus Twp sold land to George Gantz (perhaps a nephew through sister Anna Margaretha), blacksmith, on April 9. John had received patent 16-269 for the tract called "Square & Compass" on May 6, 1790. The tract of 91 acres was adjacent to lands of Jacob Hetterick, William Ruhl (perhaps a brother of John), and George Gantz. [59] [60] [61]

1802 John Ruhl and Daniel Peterman, elders of the Lutheran and Reformed societies at Shrewsbury and Codorus Townships in York county warranted 2 acres in Codorus and Shrewsbury Twp (perhaps on the border between the townships) on August 18. [62] Adjacent tracts were shown on the survey map as church land, perhaps over the Maryland border, and tracts belonging to Frederick Howis, Michael Ziegler (formerly William Becker), John Hennigh. Returned January 1803. [63] [Photocopy, 1802 Survey of church property by John Ruhl.]

George married Anna Rosina Baehli, the sister of Margaretha Barbara Baehli, who married Heinrich. That is, George Rule and Heinrich Ruhl married two Baehli sisters.
