Notes for James Babcock and Jane Brown

Jane Brown married James Babcock. [1]

1668 James Badcock Jr, inhabitant of Misquamacott, who had petitioned with others to remove from Rhode Island, were admitted. [2]

1671 James Badcock Jr was constable of Providence Plantation. [3]

1694 On 16 November, Jane Babcock recieved a legacy of £10 from the estate of her father, Nicholas Brown. [4]

1698 James Babcock died intestate 1698, and by the law of primogeniture the real estate went to his oldest son, James. The inventory of his personal property amounting to £97.8d, was dated Jan 10 1699. An agreement was made by the widow and children as to the distribution of the property. (See Austin p 8) The will of Jane Brown Badcock, widow of James, is dated April 30, 1718, and proved Feb 4, 1719. Executor, son James blacksmith. [5]

1719 Jane Brown, daughter of Nicholas Brown, died in 1719. She married James, son of James and Sarah Babcock, of Rhode Island. He was born in 1741, and died about 1698. They had children James, Sarah, Jane, Mary, Hannah, and Elizabeth Babcock. [6] [7]
