1763 Jacob Shork and Mary Lichty, spinster, daughter of Daniel Lichty yeoman deceased, were married on February 28, in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania [6] [7]. Sureties: Jacob Shork and Christian Stevens, both yeoman of Hempfield Township. [8]

1769 Jacob Sherick was taxed in Hempfield Twp, Lancaster County for 80 acres, 5 horses, 8 cattle, and 10 sheep. [10]
1770 Jacob received his father's 244 acre homestead in Hempfield Township, Lancaster County, by will in 1770. [11] [12]

1771 Jacob Sherk's brother, Joseph Sherik, and Jacob's brother-in-law, Martin Hoober; yeomen of Hempfield Twp and executors of the will of Joseph Sherick, deceased, of Hempfield Twp; granted land, on December 18, to Jacob Shirk of Hempfield, as directed in the will of Joseph, deceased. The land included two parts described as the 100 acres on Chestnut Hill and the 36 acres near Martin Hoober's land. The land was offered for sale to the heirs and was sold to John Sherick, later named as Jacob Sherick in the same deed. Signed by John Sherrick and Martin Hoober in German. (perhaps both Joseph and Jacob were sometimes referred to or signed their names as John). [14]

1788 Jacob Sherch wrote his will in Hempfield Township, Lancaster County in German. On May 2, 1788, John Schallenberger and Christian Musser affirmed that they had witnessed the will. Letters of administration were issued to Joseph Sherch, Henry Neff, and Andrew Gerber, administrators. No transcription is shown in the will book. [34] [35] [36]

1794 Jacob Sherk's brother Joseph Sherck of Hempfield Twp and friends Henry Neff of Manor Twp and Andrew Gerber of Hempfield Twp, all of Lancaster County, executors of the last will and testament of Jacob Sherk, late of Hempfield Twp, sold land to John, the son of Jacob, on August 8. A Patent for the land, a tract of 244 acres in Hempfield Twp, had been granted in 1741 to Joseph Sherck (by the name of Joseph Sherrock), the father of the said Jacob Sherck deceased and his heirs. [43] [44] In his will with executors son Joseph Sherck and son-in-law Martin Huber, Joseph Sherck [Senior] indicated that he had granted the land to his son Jacob by deed dated September 30, 1783. Jacob's will was dated March 24, 1788 and directed that his five sons: Joseph, Jacob, John, David, and Christian; should have all his lands according to the needs of their trades, as determined by the executors. Jacob died soon after writing his will. Son John Sherck was granted a large tract of the estate. Adjoining land belonged to David Rohrer (perhaps a son-in-law of Jacob) and to Peter Musser. Another tract was next to widow Stoner, Herman Spore, and John Newcomer. [45]
1794 Son John Sherck sold land to Henry Neff, on May 16, that he had inherited from his father Jacob. [46]
1794 Joseph Sherck, of Hempfield, Henry Neff of Manor Twp, and Andrew Gerber of Hempfield Twp; being the executors of the will of Jacob Sherck; settled, on August 9, eighteen outstanding debts held by Jacob's son, John Sherk. [47]
1795 Joseph Sherck, Henry Neff, and Andrew Gerber, executors of the will and testament of Jacob Sherck of Hempfield produced their account of the estate showing a balance of £2978.10.2. Andrew Garber was appointed guardian over Christian, minor son under the age of 14. [48]
1795 The children and heirs of Jacob Sherk signed a release on August 1. The children were Joseph Sherck of Hempfield Twp, Lancaster County, Jacob Sherck of Leacock Twp, Lancaster County, John Sherck of Washington County in Maryland, David Sherck of Hempfield Twp, Lancaster County, Mary wife of David Rohrer of Hempfield Twp, Lancaster County, Susanna the wife of Andrew Gerber of Hellam Twp in York County, and minor son Christian Sherck under the guardianship of Andrew Gerber. 50 years later … Descendants of Jacob Sherrick lived along Chickasalunga Creek on the Marietta - Lancaster Turnpike, which runs to the Mennonist Church to the east and to the Susquehanna River to the west. [53]
