1659 Francis Doughty and John Moore were witnesses to a deed dated November 4 in Middle Borrough (Newtown). [1]

1660[59/60?] At a meeting on March 9, the people of Newtown (Middleborough) agreed on contributions toward the killing of wolves. John Moore was to contribute 4 guilders and Francis Doughty 12 guilders. John Moore's brothers were not on the list.[2]

c 1666 John Moore and Hannah were married by about 1666 since their son John was of age on 23 February 1688/89. [3]

1666 "The towne rate mad by the cunstable & overseers 4 of December 1666" in Newtown included Fra Doughtie (£0.6.5), Gershom More (£0.5.5), John More (£0.3.4), Tho: More (£0.1.9), and Sam More (£0.1.2). [4] [5]

1666/67 John Borroughs, Francis Doughty, John More, and others, residents of the north side of Newtown, signed an agreement on January 4 concerning fencing land for a common field. Ralph Hunt, Francis Doughty and John Burroughs were chosen to lay out the shares to be fenced. [6]

memorandum that we of the north sid of tho towne above said doe mutially agree to fence in our land to plant in one common field & that we shall have our severall shares of fences according to our land therein equally devided by three men chosen by us namly Ralph Hunt Frances Doughtie & Jo: Burroughes to be laied out within a month of the date
here of & that everione in pertickuler shall have there shares sufficiently sett up by the last of March next after the date here of but in case any man faile here of he shall forfit three shillings for everie rood that is not then seet up; only they shall every one shall maintaine everie one his owne front

1667/68 "A towne rate for the defraying towne debts by the cunstable & overseers this 26 th of Febuary 1667/8" in Newtown included Fra: Doughty (£0.7.5), Gershom More (£0.8.9), and Jo: More (£0.5.1), but not Samuel More. [11] [12]

1669 On December 20, John Moore sold land in Newtown to Joshua Hazard. [13]

Know all men whom it may conserne that I John More doe from me my heires exectors and assines bargan sell and make over unto Jossoua Hazerd his heres exectors & assines all my right title & intrust to half a lot containing about nine ackers of arable land more or lesse with all right or preveledg that may or do thereunto belong for him the said Joshua Hazerd his haires exectors or assines to inioy as there proper land of inheritance for ever as witnesse my hand

1685/86 Hannah, widow of John Moore, had married Thomas Pettit before January 8. In a deed dated January 8, 1686, [14]

Thomas Pettit "for and in behalfe of his sons in law John and Thomas Moore, here by mutual agreement exchanges with Jermiah Burrough, both of us belonging to Newtown," a certain meadow in the south meadow for "a certain piece of meadow at the south of this island." Signed by the parties, Thomas Pettit, Jeremiah Burrough.

1686 In a deed dated March 26, 1686, Thomas Petit stated, [15]

I, Thomas Pettit and Hannah my wife, both of Newtown on Long Island in Queens County in America, do alienate and make over in the behalfe of my son John Moore, she being formerly the wife and relict of John Moore deceased ...
