Notes for Joseph Scott and Martha Scattergood

1795 Joseph Scott, Jr., of Burlington County. Ward. Son of Joseph Scott, of said County, dec'd, makes choice of Jonathan Scott [perhaps his brother, who had recently come of age]. Guardian: Jonathan Scott. Fellowbondsman: Charles Ellis. Dated August 13. [1] [2]

1799 On May 21, Martha Scott was appointed guardian of Hannah Scott, under age 14, child of Joseph Scott, deceased. Caleb and Joshua Scattergood as sureties. [3]

1800 On 13 January, Hannah Scott, of Burlington County, Ward. Daughter of Joseph Scott of said County deceased. On petition of Martha Scott that she be appointed guardian of said infant until she is 14. Fellowbondsmen: Caleb Scattergood and Joshua Scattergood, all of said county. [4]

1805 On 4 of month 12, Martha Scott requested the Upper Springfield women's meeting that her daughter Hannah Scott a minor may be received into membership. The meeting agreed and she was received. [5] [6] [7]

1819 On 12 October, Hannah Scott, daughter of Joseph and Martha Scott, married Clayton G. Atkinson in Monmouth County, New Jersey. Witnessed by Martha Scott and many others. [8]

1829 On 15 February, Martha Scott wrote her will in Mansfield Twp, Burlington County, New Jersey. Her will named Hannah Atkinson daughter of Clayton G. Atkinson, Martha Scattergood daughter of Caleb Scattergood, Martha Shreve daughter of Reuben Shreve, Mary Ann Potts widow of Thomas Potts, Martha Taylor (under age 18), daughter Hannah Atkinson wife of Clayton G Atkinson. Nephew Jonathan Scattergood was named executor. Probate date 23 April, 1829. [9]
