Notes for Jost Ebersole and Anna Haldeman

1775 On May 3, Christian Haldiman, Jacob Hausser, and Jacob Schneider, executors of the estate of John Ebersole, late of Rapho Twp, Lancaster County, sold a 163 acre tract to son Yost Ebersole, by the name of Joseph Obersol. John Ebersole, late of Rapho Twp had owned a 200 acre tract in Rapho Twp patented January 27, 1763 (Patent AA4-20), which he left part in his will to son Yost. The tract was adjacent to Chickasolunga Creek and to lands of Henry Culp and Jacob Cookerly. [1]

1827 Two deeds were recorded in Lancaster County on April 18 describing the division of the estate of Yost (Joseph) Ebersole. They differ in naming daughter Ann as a spinster (1806), or as the wife of Jacob Meyer (1825), and by clarifying that Yost's wife was named Anna, versus perhaps Elizabeth.

1806 On May 3, the heirs of Yost Ebersole, deceased of Rapho Twp, made a final transfer of land from the estate to son Yost (Joseph) Ebersole. The heirs were Elizabeth Sherer, John Ebersole, Christian Ebersole, and Ann Ebersole spinster, all of Rapho Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. John Ebersole, late of Rapho Twp had owned a 200 acre tract in Rapho Twp patented January 27, 1763 (Patent AA4-20), which he left part in his will to son Yost. Yost died intestate and left widow Ann and issue Elizabeth, John, Christian, Yost, and Ann Ebersole. The land descended to those heirs, subject to the dower thirds of Elizabeth Ebersole, widow and relict of Yost deceased (the name Elizabeth disagrees with the name Ann, given previously). The heirs, Elizabeth Sherer, John, Christian, Yost, and Ann appointed responsible men and the land was appraised at 10 pounds, 10 shillings per acre, which satisfied all the heirs. Son Yost purchased the shares from the other heirs with dower payments to the widow Elizabeth [sic Ann]. [2]

1825 On May 2, the heirs of Yost Ebersole, deceased of Rapho Twp, made a final transfer of land from the estate to son Yost (Joseph) Ebersole, after the death of widow Ann. The heirs were Elizabeth Sherer, John Ebersole, Christian Ebersole, and Ann Ebersole wife of Jacob Mayer, all of Rapho Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. [3]

Research Notes:

The deed suggests that this Yost, son of John Ebersole, was not the father of Ann, who was married to Jacob Meyer by 1760 [4].

This couple with daughter Anna married to Jacob Myer is on an individual record at LDS, on a Pedigree Resource File CD #42 Pin #962632. Some researchers list this couple as Jost Ebersole and Anna Haldeman, with parents shown here. Others Name John Ebersole with unknown parents.

1739 Emigrated September 3, on the ship Robert and Alice.

Reports the daughter of Christian Haldeman and Ann Newkommt to be Ann Eversole [7], perhaps the wife of Jost Ebersole.
