Research Notes:

"Peter Witmer of Manor Township, Lancaster County Pennsylvania arrived in Philadelphia on December 22, 1744 on the ship Muscliffe Galley. His distinctive signature helps to distinguish him from other early Peter Witmers. On February 11, 1745, Peter purchased 132 acres in the Manor of Conestoga that had earlier been warranted to Jacob Brubaker (died 1743). Peter purchased the land from Brubaker's estate and married the widow Elizabeth Brubaker, who was the daughter of Isaac Herr. Peter Witmer obtained a patent on this land on November 22, 1763 and lived there until his death in 1792. He was married at least three times and had 18 children. Peter Witmer signed the administrative bond that was granted to Margaret, the widow of John Witmer (died 1749) so we presume that the two were somehow connected. Many of the members of this family were Mennonite." [Dee Coleman]

Peter Witmer, of Manor, was Jacob Engel's employer and fellow founder of the Brethren in Christ Church. [6]
