Notes for Peter Road and Veronica Fredligh

Peter Road was a child when his parents immigrated to America in 1733. Peter grew up in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania and married Veronica Fredligh. They lived in Strasburg Township. Six of their children were living when Peter died in 1793 in Strasburg Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Veronica's birth and death dates are not known.

1733 Peter Ruth with wife Sophia and children Johan, Peter, Christina, and Jacob Roodt and adult Hendrick Rut emigrated on the Brigantine Pennsylvania Merchant of London, John Stedman master, from Rotterdam via Cowes, England. They took the oath of fidelity and Qualified September 18 at the Courthouse in Philadelphia. Perhaps this was the family of Peter Road with his parents and siblings. [1] [2] [3] 1731 Lawrence Roodt was on the previous sailing of the ship Pennsylvania Merchant. [4]

1734 Peter Rade, perhaps Peter's father, received a warrant for a tract of 150 acres by Cocalico and Muddy Creek in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. [9] A survey was dated March 4, 1738. [10] Adjacent lands were held by Jacob Reem, Valentine Westhaver, Nicholas Fieser [Feezer], Pens [Bentz, Benedict] Hershey [11], Peter Wisenant, George Hege, and George Brendle. Peter Rode sold the land to Adam Good on March 28, 1760. A patent for the land was granted to Adam Good in 1761. [12] A survey dated 1761 suggests that the tract was then owned by Henry Ensmiller. [13]

Peter Road was married to Veronica Fredligh, daughter of Alexander Fredligh. [14]

1754 Peter Road was first taxed at Strasburg Township for 100 acres with a still. The next listing was Jacob Rode who was a tailor with 60 acres. [15]

1758 Peter Rode and Jacob Rode were taxed at Strasburg Township. [16] [17]

1758 Peter Road purchased land in Strasburg Township from the estate of his late father-in-law, Alexander Fredligh on July 27. There were two tracts. Veronica's sister, Barbara, and Barbara's husband, Jacob Beam, of Martic Township, were the only other heirs. Alexander Fredligh had purchased the land from Henry and Margaret Shank in 1742. [18]

1759 Peter Rode was taxed with 100 acres, 40 acres cleared, at Strasburg Township. [19] [20] [21]

1767 Peter Road, yeoman of Hanover Twp, Lancaster County, purchased land in Hanover Twp from the heirs of John Cunningham. [22] [23] Christian Neff also sold a tract to Peter Road. [24]

1769 Peter Road was taxed at Strasburg Township for 120 acres, 30 acres improved. [25] [26]

1770 Peter Road was taxed at Strasburg Township. [27] [28]

1771 Peter Road [Roat] was taxed in Strasburg Twp, Lancaster County for 130 acres, 3 horses and 5 cattle. [29] [30]

1772 Peter Road was taxed in Strasburg Twp, Lancaster County for 100 acres, 2 horses and 4 cattle. Ludwig Road was taxed as a freeman. [31] [32]

1773 Peter Road was not on the Strasburg tax list [33]. Ludwig Rade was taxed as a freeman [34].

1779 Henry Road, perhaps Peter's son, was taxed in Strasburg Twp, Lancaster County for 130 acres, 2 horses and 6 cattle and 8 sheep. [35]

1782 Peter Road was taxed. [36] Henry Road, perhaps Peter's son, was taxed in Strasburg Twp, Lancaster County for 130 acres, 2 horses and 4 cattle. [37] [38] [39] Henry, Peter, John, and Jacob Ruth were named on one list. [40] Ludwig Road, relationship if any unknown, was taxed as a freeman [41] [42]

1789 Peter Road was taxed in Strasburg Twp, Lancaster County for 50 acres cleared, 50 acres woodland, 2 horses and 4 cattle. [43]

1790 Son Henry Rode lived in Strasburg Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, in a household with 1 males under age 16, 2 males age 16 and over, and 2 females. Neither Peter nor son John were listed. [44]

1792 Henry Hersh [45] [46] and Henry Roads [47] [48] were taxed in Strasburg Twp, Lancaster County.

1793 Peter Rode of Strasburg Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania wrote his will on 11 Apr 1793 and it was proved 18 May 1793. He made his mark "X" on the will. He named children Henry, John, Anna wife of Anthony Stormback, Mary wife of John Tharon, Veronica wife of Jacob Baltzly, and Barbara wife of Horsh. The executors of his will were his son Henry Road and friend Martin Barr. He left his land in Newberry Township, York County to his daughter Maria. [49] [50] [51] [52] [53]

1793 Henry Hersh [54] and Henry Roads [55] were taxed in Strasburg Twp, Lancaster County.

1794 Anthony Stormbach and wife Anna (daughter of Peter Rode, deceased), signed a release to John Rode (son of Peter Rode, deceased) regarding two tracts of land in Hanover Twp, Dauphin County, from the estate of Peter Rode. [56]

1795 Jacob Baltzly and his wife Veronica, daughter of Peter Road, both of Fayette County, Pennsylvania; sold their share of two tracts in Strasburg Twp, Lancaster County, containing 146 acres, to Veronica's brother Henry Road. Dated February 18. Veronica had inherited her share from her father, Peter Road, deceased, of Lampeter Twp, Lancaster County. [57]

1795 Henry and John Road, sons of Peter Road, deceased, were parties to a deed that described lands from the estate in Strasburg Twp. Adjacent lands were owned by Ulrich Breckbill, Christian Shoup, Peter Gardiner, Augustine Wither, John Wither, Peter Sites, Christian Martin, Martin Bear, Jacob Huber, Henry Shank, and John Herr. We seek documentation about the marriage of Peter Road and Veronica Fredligh. Where did Peter Roth live before his marriage to Veronica Fredligh of Strasburg Twp? These notes might relate to ancestors of Peter Road.

1641 On a list of people on a flotilla of seven boats leaving persecution in Berne for the Palatinate was: Peter Root, Fronsheim, 32; wife Anna Ruyschur, 30; and a mother Frommick Eck, 72; 4 children, oldest 9. Given 2 beds, a cow, clothing, 2 sheets, 2 pairs of shoes. [59]

Was Peter Road of Donegal Twp related?

1764 Peter and Jacob Road purchased 160 acres of land in Donegal Twp from widow Elizabeth Newswanger, all of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. [64]

1773 Peter Road was taxed in Donegal Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. [65]

1792 Land of Peter Rhoot in Donegal Twp, Lancaster County was shown adjacent to land of Jacob Willhelm (deceased), Jacob Ebersole, and John Engle in trust for the heirs of Martin Haisley on a survey made on 1 November. [66]
