1745 On 16 October, John Engle was born, son of Ulrich Engle, of Wild Cat station on the Pennsylvania railroad. John Engle married Elizabeth Schrock. [1] [2] [3]

1749 On 10 January, Elizabeth Schock was born. [4]

1770 John Wilson sold land in Donegal Twp to John Engel. [5]

1772 John Engel [Angle] was taxed in Donegal Twp, Lancaster County for 150 acres, 3 horses, and 3 cattle. [6]

1773 John Engel [Angle] was taxed in Donegal Twp, Lancaster County for 130 acres, 2 horses, and 2 cattle. [7]

1779 John Engel [Angle] was taxed in Donegal Twp, Lancaster County for 160 acres, 2 horses, 2 cattle, and 2 sheep. [8]

1782 John Engel [Angle] was taxed in Donegal Twp, Lancaster County for 160 acres, 3 horses, 10 cattle. [9]

1784 Martin Boehm, celebrated evangelist, conducted a revival in Donegal Twp. Brothers Jacob and John Engel attended. They decided that immersion was the proper way to perform a baptism. In 1786 they took part in such a baptism and they became ministers of the denomination, which is different from the Dunker Brethren. [10]

1786 On 27 December, John Engel and Elizabeth his wife sold 140 acres of land in Donegal Twp, Lancaster County to Jacob Engel for £700. [11]. The tract was patented to Alexander Hutchinson on 15 October 1739. Alexander Hutchinson's heir John Wilson sold the tract to John Engel in 1770. [12] [13]

1790 John Engel (age 16+) lived in Donegal Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania in a household with 2 males under age 16 and 3 females. [14]

1792 On 10 October, John Engle [Engel], exr in trust for Martin Haisey, warranted 150 acres at Ft. of South Mt. in Donegal Twp. One adjacent landowner was Jacob Eversol. [15] [16] [17]

1802 On 12 April, John Engel of Donegal Twp, Lancaster County sold water rights from Conoy Creek to John Haldeman. [18]

1826 On 20 April, John Engel died. [19] [20]

1828 On 28 February, Elizabeth (Schock) Engel died. [21]

A biosketch [22] reports:

John Engle, second in the above mentioned family, was born Oct. 16, 1745, and died Jan. 18, 1824. His wife, Elizabeth Shock, was born Jan. 10, 1749, and died Feb. 12, 1828. They made their home on a farm in Conoy township now in the possession of their great-grandson, Simon H. Engle. They were the parents of five children: Jacob, who married Martha Strickler: John, who married Hester Long; Annie, who married John Heisey; Eliza, who married John Gish: and Fanny, who married John Hoffman. Of these Jacob Engle was born July 9, 1773, and died Jan. 24, 1841, while his wife. Martha Strickler, was born Jan. 24, 1780, and died Jan. 12, 1831, and their remains now lie at rest in a cemetery on a farm in Conoy township, on the Abraham B. Engle estate. Jacob was the father of eight children: John. born Jan. 3, 1804, died Aug. 8, 1831. married Catherine Nisslcy; Henry, born May 30, 1806, married Nancy Brubaker; Rev. Jacob S., born Nov. 10, 1808, married Barbara VVolgemuth: David, born in 1820, married Mary Hamaker; Elizabeth married Rudolph Good; Martha, born Aug. 21, 1811, died Aug. 27. 1831 ; Fanny, born in 1814, married Rev. Jacob N. Graybill; and Susanna, born 1817, married John P. Kraybill, a bishop of the River Brethren Church.

A biosketch [23] reports:

John Engle, son of Ulrich, the emigrant, married Elizabeth Schock. They lived and died in Conoy township and their remains were laid to rest in a graveyard on the farm owned in 1901 by Simon H. Engle. The record of their family is as follows: Jacob, who married Martha Strickler; John, who married Hester Long; Annie, who married John Heisey; Elizabeth, who married John Gish; and Fannie, who married John Hoffman.
