1885 J.M. Brenizer and Rev Stauffer are taking subscriptions for the erection of the Reformed church in Abilene. [2]

1885 J.M. Brenizer opened his new store with a full picture advertisement. [3]

1885 J.M. Brenizer has recovered from his late sickness and is again behind the counter attending the wants of his customers. [4]

1886 Reported 14 October: "Milt Brenizer has put a telephone in his store." [5] 1887 Reported 20 January: The telephone number for the J.M. store was 92. [6]

1886 "Invitations are out announcing the approaching marriage of J.M. Brenizer and Miss Jessie P Walker, at the home of the bride's parents, in Clarendon Springs, Vermont on Thursday Nov 3rd. Mr. Brenizer left for the East last Monday noon. Miss Walker is a sister of Mrs. Hiland Southwirth." [7] [8]

1886 John Milton Brenizer, age 32, son of John L. Brenizer and Catherine Mummert, and Jessie Phillips Walker were married on November 3 in Vermont. [10] [11]

1886 Reported 11 November: Milt Brenizer and wife, nee Jessie Phillips Walker of Clarendon Vt, arrived in the city on Saturday last and are receiving congratulations. [12]

1887 On 10 March, J.M. Brenizer sold the general grocery and dry goods establishment of Buckeye avenue near Third street, one of the largest and finest establishments in the city, to D Chronister and A W Huntzberger. [13] Mrs J.M. Brenizer returned from a visit among friends in Pennsylvania. [14]

1887 Reported 22 September: "But this world can present strange contrasts in a few short months. On the south side of the race track where ... Milt Brenizer ... and other Abilene boys used to watch with so much pride and time with their stop watches, and with hearts that sometimes almost stopped beating on account of the time, good or bad, made by (famous horses) now speeds the iron horse on the Great Santa Fe track." [15]

1891 "J. M. Brenizer has put in machinery with power sufficient to churn 500 gallons of ice cream a day. Remember that Brenizer's is headquarters for ice cream." [16]

1895 JM Brenizer (age 34), blacksmith, lived in Abilene, Dickinson County, Kansas. [17] John Milton Brenizer's spouse was named Jessie in notes prior to 1895 and was named Alice in notes after 1900, suggesting that John was single in 1895, and then remarried. Perhaps John and Jessie were divorced.

1898 Mr. J. M. Brenizer and Alice Goodman were married on December 27 in Topeka, Kansas. [18]

1900 "Engine pinned him down. Mankato, Kansas - Jan 24. Milton Brenizer (perhaps this John Milton Brenizer), while running a threshing engine on a bridge, went with it to the bottom of the stream, being pinned under the engine for more than an hour. His limbs were fearfully lacerated and he is suffering severely. His injuries may not be fatal." [19] [20]

1900 John M Brenizer (born Aug 1853) and Alice S Brenizer (born July 1863) lived in Abilene, Dickinson County, Kansas. They have been married 1 year and have no children. Nearby was David W Howard (born Mar 1837) and wife Mary (born Dec 1844). The Howards have been married for 35 years and had 3 children. [21]

1905 JM Brenizer (age 50) and Alice Brenizer (age 40) lived in Abilene, Dickinson County, Kansas. [22]

1915 JM Brenizer (age 62) and Alice Brenizer (age 50) lived in Abilene, Dickinson County, Kansas. [23]

1921 John Milton Brenizer (1853-1921) died and was buried at Abilene Cemetery, Dickinson County, Kansas. [24] [25] An obituary reports that he married Alice Goodman of Topeka in 1899. [26] [27]

1938 Sarah Alice Brenizer (1856-1938) died and was buried at Abilene Cemetery, Dickinson County, Kansas. [29] [30]

1943 Jessie W Maclennan (John's first wife) died on June 6 in Santa Clara County, California. She was born on March 1, 1864, in Vermont, daughter of Philips and Walker. [31]

1943 Jessie Walker MacLennan died on June 6 and was buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Los Angeles County, California. Jessie Walker MacLennan was born on March 1, 1864. [32] [33]
