Notes for Valentine Brenneisen and Salome Herman

1741 Valentine Berndheisell was naturalized at the Philadelphia supreme court, April 10-11. [1]

1741-70 Valentin Brenneisen purchased part of a 244 acre tract in Hempfield Township, Lancaster County tract that Joseph Sherrick patented on July 14, 1741 and which he had surveyed May 23, 1735. [2] [3] The original tract of land adjoined that of John Boghman, Christian Nisewonger, Christian Carver, and Casper Shirk. [4]

1758 Conrad, Rudolf, and Valentin Brenisen were taxed in Earltown, Lancaster County. Valentine would have been age 20, if he was born in 1738. [5] Jacob Brenisen, shoemaker (tenant to Evan Davis) was taxed. [6]

1758 Valentine Brenneisen transferred land to Conrad Brenneisen by deed dated March 15. [7] [8]

Under a warrant 30 Apr. 1746 there was surveyed 13 Dec. 1748 to Hans Urigh, tract in Earl Township, Lancaster County, adjoining Rudolph Burnet, Thomas Erwin, Michael Oberly, Philip Henrig, Jacob Holsaser, and John Lacy, 154 acres. Urigh died and in his last will left land to his two step sons Conrad and Valentein Brenneisen. Valentine by deed 15 Mch. 1758 made over right to Conrad. Patent 13 Feb. 1762; recorded 19 Feb. 1762. Valentine Breneiser conducted an inn at Lancaster for a number of years. [9]

1768 Valentine and Salome Brenneisen were sponsors at the baptism of Elizabeth, daughter of Christian and Elizabeth Herman, on June 12 at the First reformed Congregation at Lancaster, Pennsylvania. [10] [11]

1769 Valentin Brenneisen witnessed a deed, dated December 14, in which Joseph Sherrock (died 1770) granted land to his younger son, Joseph Sherrock, both yeoman of Hempfield Twp, Lancaster County. The land was on Chickesalungo Creek and bordered lands of George Stewart and John Doak. [12]

1776 Joseph Sherick granted 4 acres of land to Valentin Breneissen. Dated October 8. The land was part of 242 acres of land in Hempfield Twp patented on April 14, 1767 by Joseph Sherrick. [13] On April 27, 1776, Valentine and Salome Breneissen sold the land to Christian Musselman. [14]

1771 Val. Breneisson was taxed in Hempfield Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. [15]

1772 Valentine Brenneison was taxed in Hempfield Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. [16]

1772 Samuel Brenneiss, son of Valentin and Salome Brenneiss, was born on February 18, with sponsor Conradt and Maria Elisabeth Brenneiss, as reported in the Trinity Lutheran Church records, Lancaster County. [17]

1773 Valentine Brenison was taxed in Hempfield Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. [18]

1776 Valentine Brennisey, perhaps this Valentine, was a private in the York County Militia and apprehended British deserters under Sergeant John Wetzell. [19] Valentine Brenneisen served in a battalion from York County under Captain Rudolph Spangler and First Lieutenant Peter Reel. [20]

1776 Valentine Brenneisen and wife Salome of Hempfield Twp, Lancaster County sold land to George Muma on February 26. The tract of 180 acres was in Hempfield Twp and had been sold to Valentine Breneisen on June 6, 1770 by Dewalt Good. Dewalt Good had warranted the land on 5 March 1741/42. [21]

1777 Joseph, son of Valentin and Salome Brenneisen, was born on October 1. He was baptized on November 2, with sponsors Christian and Elisabeta Hermann, at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Lancaster County. [22] [23]

1779 Johannes, son of Valentin and Salome Brenneisen, was born on September 5. He was baptized on October 10, with sponsors Christian and Elisabeta Hermann, at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Lancaster County. [24] [25]

1779 Valentine Brenneisen was taxed in Lancaster borough, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. [26]

1780 Margaret Brenneison was born to Valentine (perhaps this one) and Elizabeth Brenneison at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in York County, Pennsylvania.

1780 Valentine Brenneisen, perhaps this one, was a Private in the bounds of the 7th Company, 1st Battalion, York County, Pennsylvania on 14 October. [27]

1781 Valentine Brenneisen was taxed in York Town, York County, Pennsylvania for a house and half lot, as was Martin Brenneisen. Perhaps they shared a lot. [28]

1782 Johan Georg, son of Valentin and Salome Brenneisen, was born on February 9. He was baptized on March 3, at the Trinity Lutheran church in Lancaster, with sponsors John Georg and Justina Hof. [29] [30]

1782 Valentine Breneisen was taxed for a shop in Lancaster borough, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. [31]

1782-83 Valentine Breneise, tailor for Greenbury Dorsey's estate, was on the federal tax list for Upper Delaware on the Philadelphia list. [32] [33]

1781-85 Valentine Brenizer was an officer of the borough of Lancaster. [34]

1784 Immanuel, son of Valentin and Salome Breneisen, was born on June 26. He was baptized on July 21, at the Trinity Lutheran church in Lancaster. [35]

1786 Valentine Brenneisen, inkeeper of the Borough of Lancaster, Pennsylvania dated his will February 13. All goods, including four lots lately taken up on ground rents of William Hamilton Esquire, to be sold. Wife Salome to have house until son Emanuel reaches age 21, or the next in age order, if Emanuel is deceased. Nine children: Christian, Valentine, Jacob, Simon, Benjamin, Joseph, John, George, Emanuel. George Hoof [Hoff] and Jacob Krug executors. Proved 11 March, 1786. Witnessed Melchior Rudesill, Frederick K?, and Michale Hubley. [36] [37]

1789 George Hoff and Jacob Krug, executors of the estate of Valentine Brennisen, late of Lancaster Borough, Lancaster County, sold land to William Hamilton of Philadelphia on June 30. The land was comprised of two lots #611 and 612 on Prince Street, which had been sold by William Hamilton to Valentine and Salome Brennisen from the estate of James Hamilton. [38]

1789 Adam and Susanna Tombaugh sold land in Lancaster Borough, Lancaster County to Salome Breneisen, on September 8. [39]

1795 Widow Salome Brenneisen of Manor Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania sold the land purchased in 1789, to Jacob Frey. Dated September 22. [40]

Research Notes:

Valentine Brenizer and wife Salome had nine sons: Christian, Valentine, Jacob, Simon, Benjamin, Joseph, John, George, and Emanuel. [41]

1741 Valentine Barontheisel was taxed in Northampton County, Pennsylvania on March 6. [42]

1750 Valentine Barontheisel was taxed in Northampton County, Pennsylvania on October 16. [43]

A marriage was listed for Salome Herman and Valentine Brenneison at Ancestry.com (no church listed). Valentine was reported born in 1738. [44]
