Notes for John Cubberley and Achsah Rogers

+1774 On 11 February, Acsah Rogers was born to parents Isaac and Ann Rogers. [1] [2]

1793/94 On 3 of month 12, 1793"... Acsah Cubberly, late Rogers, hath gone out in marriage with a man not membership with friends and was married by a Priest also neglects the attendance ... ". [3]

1793 On 1 of month 3, "... Acsah Cubberly for her breach of discipline before mentioned from being any longer a member thereof untill she becomes sensible of her error". [4]

1795 The will of Sarah (Quicksall) Taylor, of Nottingham Twp, Burlington County, was dated June 16. The will named Achsah Cubberley, daughter of Ann Rogers [5].

Son, Daniel Taylor, 5 shillings. Grandson, Nathan Taylor, £5 and red chest which was his grandfather's. Son, Stacy, 5 shillings; and to his daughter, Sarah, 10 shillings. Son, John Taylor, 5 shillings out of what is due me from him: remainder of said debt to his daughter, Sarah. Son, Joel Taylor, what may be due me from him, except a bond for £50 devised to me by his father; and to his daughter, Mary, £5. To Stacy Decou (son of Isaac Decou), my watch. To grandson, Clayton Decou (son of Joseph Decou), my mahogany desk. Eldest daughter, Mary Decou, 1/5 of residue. Dau, Ann Rogers, ½ of 1/5 of residue; the other ½ to granddaughter, Edith Wall; (daughter Ann's half to put at interest and paid her annually; at her decease the principal to be equally divided between her eldest daughters, i.e., Mary Scholey, Rachel Groom and Achsah Cubberley). Dau., Edith Lamb, 1/5 part of residue. Dau. Achsah Gaunt, ½ of 1/5 par: the other half to Joseph Decou's 3 children, i.e., Mary, Joseph and Clayton. Dau., Sarah Curtis, ½ of 1/5 part of residue; the other half to John Curtis's 2 children and my grandchildren, i.e., Tilton and Achsah Curtis. Executors- Grandson, Daniel Decou and granddaughter, Edith Wall. Witnesses - John Borden and Mary Decou, Jr. Proved Dec. 13, 1796.

1796 On 14 January, John Rogers, son of Isaac and Ann Rogers, of Nottingham, and Susan Forsyth were married at Chesterfield. Witnesses: Achsah Gaunt, Achsah Warren, and others, but not Acsah Cubberly. [6]

1826 On December 13, Achsa Cubberly, daughter of Isaac Rogers was named as a (surviving?) heir in the partition of real estate from his estate, according to a decree of the Middlesex Orphans court. [7]

1830 John Cubberly Sr (age 50-60) lived in East Windsor Twp, Middlesex County, New Jersey with female (age 50-60), perhaps Achsah, and younger persons. [8]

1847 On 1 September, Acsha Rogers Cubberley died and was buried at First Presbyterian Churchyard, Hamilton Square, Mercer County, New Jersey. [9]

1847 On 11 October, John Cubberley died, at age 74, and was buried at First Presbyterian Churchyard, Hamilton Square, Mercer County, New Jersey. [10]

1847 The estate of John Cubberly Sr, of Mercer County, was partitioned on December 10. It involved land that Achsah had inherited from her father Isaac Rogers. Heirs named were Isaac Hughes and wife Susanna (Cubberley), Samuel Hughes and wife Margaret (Cubberley), Richard Hughes and wife Achsah (Cubberley), Robert Ayers and wife Mary (Cubberley), James J Cubberley, Job Cubberley, and Isaac E Cubberley. John Cubberley and Ezekiel Cubberley had died previously. [11]
