1816 Peter Blosser was born on August 3, near Dayton, Rockingham County, Virginia where his family lived until 1827. [1] [2]

1822 Mary Ann Reed was born on December 15, near Dayton, Rockingham County, Virginia. [3] [4] [5] [6]

1827 Peter Blosser moved with his parents from Rockingham County, Virginia to Mahoning County, Ohio. [7] [8] [9]

1850 Peter Blosser and Mary Ann Reed were married on January 20, in Mahoning County, Ohio by Rev. Henry Stauffer. The license was dated 20 January and was registered 2 Feb, 1850. [10] [11]

1850 Mary Ann Blasser (age 28, born in Rockingham County, Virginia) lived in Greene Twp, Mahoning County, Ohio, in a household with Peter Blasser (age 33, born in Rockingham County, Virginia), carpenter. [12] [13]

1851 The family moved to Elkhart County, Indiana in June. [14]

1852 Peter and Mary Blosser moved from Mahoning County, Ohio and bought a large tract of land in Foraker, Elkhart County, Indiana [15]. They journeyed overland with horse and carriage and shipped their goods by canal to Fort Wayne, Indiana. Peter bought 220 acres in Union Twp, Elkhart County, Indiana. They lived in a log cabin. Peter and Mary Ann were the last known Mennonite immigrants to Elkhart County in 1851/52. [16]

1860 Peter Blosser (age 43, born in Virginia), farmer, lived in Goshen (post office), Union Twp, Elkhart County, Indiana, in a household with Mary Ann Blosser (age 38, born in Ohio), Rebecca Blosser (age 9, born in Indiana), Amos Blosser (age 5, born in Indiana), Mary Still (age 17, born in Ohio), and Tobias Blosser (age 21, born in Ohio), carpenter. 1861 Peter Blosser died on May 20, at age 44y 9m 17d, and was buried at Old Yellow Creek Cemetery, Southwest, Elkhart County, Indiana. [19] [20] [21] [22] [23]

1870 Mary Blosser (age 48) was head of household in Elkhart County, Indiana with Rebecca (age 18), Amos (age 16), and Susan (age 9). Joel Christophel (age 35) and Henry Reed (age 23) worked there. [24] [25]

1880 Mary Ann Blosser (age 58) lived with daughter Rebecca and Son-in-law Claudies Curtis, in Union Twp, Elkhart County, Indiana. [26] [27]

1882 On the 11th of Dec., in Union Twp, Elkhart County, Indiana, Mary Ann Blosser, widow of Peter Blosser, [died] aged 60 years, 11 months and 26 days. Buried on the 13th, at the Yellow Creek burying-ground. Services by John Weaver and J. F. Funk. Text, Job 19:25-27. [28] [29] [30]

1928 Rebecca A. Curtis, married, spouse of C. K. Curtis, died on November 29, at age 78, in Foraker, Elkhart County, Indiana. She was born on October 27, 1850, in Mahoning Co. Ohio, daughter of Peter Blosser and Mary Ann Blosser. [31]

1930 Amos P Blosser, married, spouse of Alice Blosser, died on March 8, at age 75, in Goshen, Elkhart County, Indiana. He was born on June 7, 1854, in Indiana, son of Peter Blosser and Mary Ann Blosser. [32]

Research Notes:

"Peter Blosser was b. Aug. 3, 1816, in Rockingham Co.. Va., and came with his parents to Mahoning Co., O., in 1827. He was m. to Mary Ann Reed, Jan. 25, 1850, who was b. Dec. 15, 1821, in Rockingham Co., Va. In the year 1852 they moved to Elkhart Co., Ind., where he bought a large tract of land, which is now owned by his children. Both were members of the Mennonite church. Peter Blosser d. May 20, 1861; his wife d. Dec. 11, 1882. To them were b. three children, viz: Rebecca A. Blosser, Amos P., and Susanna Blosser, who was b. Nov. 10, 1860, and d. Nov. 3, 1883." [33]

"Miss Rebecca Blosser. ... a daughter of Peter and Mary A. (Reed) Blosser. Mrs. Curtis was born October 27, 1850, in Mahoning county, Ohio, and was one of three children, the others being Amos and Susan. She came to this county with her parents about forty years ago, and her father died in 1855 or 1860." [34]

"Peter Blosser, was born in Rockingham county, Va., Aug. 3, 1816. and removed with his parents, John and Barbara Blosser, to Mahoning county. O., when he was about 10 years of age; he was married in that county Jan. 25, 1850, to Mary Ann. daughter of William Reed, of the same county. She was born Dec. 15, 1821. They removed to this county in June, 1851, settling on the farm on which the family now resides. They have 3 children: Barbara, born Oct. 29, 1851; Susanna, Nov. 10, 1860, and Amos P. Mrs. Blosser died May 20. 1861. and is buried at the Yellow Creek cemetery, in Harrison tp. He and his family are worthy members of the Mennonite Church." [35]

"Peter Blosser, a native of Virginia, and a son of John and Barbara (Kegy) Blosser, who moved from Virginia to Mahoning County, Ohio, where they were early settlers, was quite young when he accompanied his parents to Mahoning County and lived there until 1851. He married in Mahoning County Mary A. Reed, who was born in Virginia of English ancestry and a daughter of William S. and Christina (Wenger) Reed. In 1851 the Blosser family moved from Eastern Ohio to Elkhart County. The journey was made overland with horses and carriage, while the household goods were shipped by way of canal to Fort Wayne and thence brought by wagon to Elkhart County. Peter Blosser bought 220 acres of comparatively unimproved land in Union Township. Its improvements consisted of a log cabin and about sixty acres of clearing, while the rest of his farm was heavily timbered. The log cabin was situated on the northeast corner of section 2, and in that environment Peter Blosser lived out the remainder of his life, passing away in 1861 at the early age of forty-three. His wife survived him and died at the age of sixty-one. In the Blosser family were three daughters: Rebecca, now Mrs. Curtis; Amos P.; and Susan, now deceased." [36]

"179.--Mary Ann Reed 46, born in Va., Oct. 15, 1822; died (???); m. Peter Blosser of Mahoning County, Ohio. Mennonite; farmer; res., Elkhart County, Indiana. Issue: Rebecca A., Amos C., and Susanna." [37]
