The petition of Daniel Hoover a [second] son of Daniel Hoover late of Conestoga Township Lancaster County decd respectfully represents that your petitioners father Daniel Hoover late of Conestoga Township Lancaster County died intestate leaving a widow Susana Hoover and fifteen children to wit: 1. Benjamin of York County 2. Daniel 3. John of Ohio 4. Christian 5. Ann married to John Newcomer of West Hempfield Twp 6. David residing in the state of Indiana 7. Catharine married to Christian Swartly East Hempfield 8. Abraham residing in Dauphin County 9. Jacob 10. Amos 11. Henry 12. Susan 13. Mary minor whose guardian is John Kendig 14. Samuel 15. 1870 C M Hoover (age 52, born in Pennsylvania) lived in Olney Ward 3, Richland County, Illinois, in a household with Sarah Hoover (age 36), Amelia Hoover (age 15), Mary E Hoover (age 13), Henry H Hoover (age 11), May B Hoover (age 8), and Lesie B Hoover (age 5). C M Hoover's occupation was clothing store. [9]

1875 Amelia T Hoover and Henry C Sands were married on September 1 in Richland County, Illinois. (FHL film 001221093). [10]

1880 Amelia Sands (age 26, born in Illinois, married), wife, lived in Olney Twp, Richland County, Illinois, in a household with H. S. Sands (age 30), Terrisa M. Sands (age 4), Elbert Sands (age 2), and H. C. Sands (age 3/12). Bell Hoover (16), perhaps Amelia's sister, lived with them. Amelia Sands's father was born in Pennsylvania and her mother was born in Indiana. [11]

1884 May Belle Hoover, age 23, and O B Worley were married on August 11. May Belle Hoover was a daughter of Christian Hoover and S Ellingsworth. (FHL film 001221093). [12]

1888 E Hoover, age 31, and John Bloom were married on February 28 in Richland County, Illinois. E Hoover was a daughter of Christian Hoover and Sarah Elingsworth. (FHL film 001221093). [13]

1892 Amelia Sands and Henry C Sands were divorced on July 2 in Bent County, Colorado. [14]

1900 Amelia Sands (born in Illinois in Aug 1854, married) lived in Tolono, Champaign County, Illinois, in a household with Tressie Sands (age 23), Clarence Sands (age 20), Helen Sands (age 15), Louie Sands (age 12), and Jessie Sands (age 9). Amelia Sands's father was born in Pennsylvania and her mother was born in Indiana. Amelia Sands had had 8 children, 7 still living. Amelia Sands's occupation was dress making. [15]

1932 Mrs. John Bloom, daughter of C. M. Hoover and Sarah Ellingsworth, died in Champaign County, Illinois. [16]

1932 Mary Eva Bloom died on September 16, 1932 and was buried at Bailey Memorial Cemetery, Tolono, Champaign County, Illinois. Mary Eva Bloom was born on April 20, 1857. [17]

1935 Howard H Hoover died in 1935 and was buried at Dundas Cemetery, Dundas, Richland County, Illinois. Howard H Hoover was born in 1859. [18]

1935 Howard H Hoover died on August 8 in Richland County, Illinois. Howard H. Hoover, son of Christopher M. Hoover and Sarah Ellingsworth, was born on April 21, 1859, in Olney, Illinois. [19]

Research Notes:

We are researching Christian Hoover, named as a child of Daniel Hoover in 1851 Lancaster County Orphans Court Records. A DNA match of Robert suggests that C. M. Hoover of Richland County, Illinois might be that person. We seek documentation about the parents of Christian Hoover of Richland County, Illinois.

1885 Reportedly, Sarah Ellingsworth Hoover died on March 15, 1885 and was buried at Haven Hill Cemetery, Olney, Richland County, Illinois. Sarah Ellingsworth Hoover was reportedly born in 1833. However, no gravemarker is shown and the children attributed to her do not match the records above. [20]
