Notes for John Anstey and Susanna Pickett

1830 Sixty five people of Vere Island were baptized on May 3 by by N. A. Coster of St. Stephen's Church in the parish of Greenspond, Bonavista Bay North, Newfoundland. All were listed as born on Vere Island. The people baptized included twelve members of the Picket family: John (age 42), Mary (age 41), John (age 20), Susanna (age 14), William (age 12), Ann (age 11), Barbara (age 10), Jane (age 7), Samuel (age 5), Thomas (age 2), Samuel (age 50), and William (age 34). [1] [2] Also baptized that day were three members of the Anstey family: John (age 23), Fanny (age 15) and Jane (age 13). [3]

1835 John Anstey and Susannah Pickett, both of Vere Island, were married on January 26 in Greenspond parish, Bonavista Bay North, Newfoundland, Canada. The witnesses were John Hunt and John Hall. [4] John Rogers and Anne Pickett of Vere Island were married the same day, with witnesses John Hall and Anthony Hunt.

1836 Sarah, daughter of John and Susan Anstey, was born on January 14 on Vere Island, Bonavista, Newfoundland, Canada, and baptized on May 15 in the parish of Greenspond in the district of Bonavista Bay north. [5]

1838 Barbara, daughter of John and Susan Anstey, was born on May 26 on Fair Island, Bonavista, Newfoundland, and baptized on September 21 in the parish of Greenspond in the district of Bonavista Bay north. [6]

1843 Leah, daughter of John and Susannah Anstey, of Fair Island, Bonavista, Newfoundland, was baptized on September 10 in the parish of Greenspond in the district of Bonavista Bay north. [7]

1846 John, son of John and Susannah Anstey, of Fair Island, Bonavista, Newfoundland, was baptized on June 6 in the parish of Greenspond in the district of Bonavista Bay north. [8]

1900 John Anstey died on November 30 in Birchy Island, Twillingate District, Newfoundland. The death record states that he was born in Twillingate, his occupation was fisherman, his cause of death was old age, and he was buried in Birchy Island. [9]
