Leila Marie Chevalley was born on June 6, 1925, in Ellsworth, KA. She was 79 years old. Leila was a loving wife and wonderful mother and homemaker to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and the many other children she cared for throughout her life.
Leila passed away on Sunday, January 30, 2005.
She is preceded in death by her brothers, Ben and Ford Goddard; and her sister, Elsie Baker.
Leila is survived by her beloved husband Charles Wesley Chevalley of Fresno; and her children, Patsy Sanders and her husband Lou of Fresno, Jim Chevalley and his wife Lenore of San Francisco, Cheri Brown and her husband Lloyd of Plymouth, CA, and Allen Chevalley and his wife Donna of Fresno; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and four siblings.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Chapel, 1525 E. Saginaw Way, Fresno, CA, on Saturday, February 5, 2005, at 1:00 p.m.

2014 Charles Wesley Chevalley died on May 22 in Fresno, Fresno County, California. An obituary states [2],
Charles Wesley Chevalley passed away peacefully on Thurs, May 22, 2014, at his home in Fresno, CA.
Charles was born February 4, 1924 to Charles H Chevalley and Mary I Haines, in Caldwell, ID. Charles moved to California when he was a boy and later joined the US Army on September 2, 1943. In 1945, while on leave in Garden City, KS, he met Leila Marie Goddard. They were married on February 14, 1946 and celebrated 59 years together when Leila passed away in 2005.
Charles spent most of his youth in California. In 1947, after his military service ended he moved Leila and their two children to Creed, CO to work in the coal mines. Soon after, he decided to attend barber college. Within a couple of years, he decided to pull up stakes and head back to California. Eventually, he settled in Fresno where he and Leila raised their four children.
Charles took over the shop in the Fig Garden Village in the 60s and in 1970 he moved to the Townsmen Barbershop, where after 59 years in the business, at the age of 81, he retired. Charles enjoyed the many people who sat in his chair. He was known for telling a good joke and was always able to make someone laugh. His sense of humor and his skills as a barber kept generations of patrons coming back.
Charles valued his family and friends and he loved his children dearly and taught them the value of hard work, honesty and punctuality. He often gathered up his family on a Sunday morning to go on outings to the country, mountains or a day at the lake. He loved to play guitar and made a mean pancake. On Sundays he would make pancakes for breakfast and pick his guitar to his children's delight.
Charles was a great friend and was always willing to lend a hand. A testimony of his character was clearly seen at his 90th birthday party in February. He had touched many lives over the years and they came, family, friends, customers, and neighbors to acknowledge a man they could call their friend.
Charlie loved to fly and got his pilot's license in 1958 and joined the Quiet Birds club in the 60's. He rented club planes for a number of year before he bought his own airplane in 1978, a 1976 Cessna 177 Cardinal. He accumulated a lot of air time over the years visiting family and friends all over the country. He retired his wings after 50 years of flying.
Charlie touched many lives and will be dearly missed. He is survived by his children; Patsy Sanders (Lou), Jim Chevalley (Lenore), Allen Chevalley (Donna) and Cheri Brown (Lloyd), and his many grandchildren.
The family thanks Optimal Hospice Care staff for their excellent care. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Fresno VA hospital or a charity of your choice . Private services held at a later date. .
