1734-36 Henry Bahn [Bann], Nicholas Kann [Kuns] and Jacob Welshover and John Hendricks were neighbors involved in the land dispute around Kreutz Creek. [1]

1736 Nicholas Cohn was listed as a German settler in Springetsbury Manor, York County. [2]

1748 "Anna Maria Barbara, oldest daughter of Balser Bortner, married Henry Kann 'from beyond the Susquehanna' on February 17, 1748 in Christ Lutheran Church, Tulpehocken, according to its records ["Maria Barbara Bortner" in church records near the present village of Stouchsburg in Berks County, not far from Myerstown][3]

c 1750 Henry Kann and his wife, "Anna Barbara", lived on a farm in Codorus Township, York County. In the early 1750's, the Kann's apparently took Mrs. Kann's sister, Philippina Bortner, into their home." [4]

1751 Maria Elisabeth Kann, daughter of Heinrich Kann and Anna Barbara Kann, was baptized in December with sponsors Adam and Maria Elisabeth Fischborn. [5]

1753 Johannes, son of Henry and Anna Barbara Kan[n], was baptized on December 9 with sponsors Johannes Kan and Phillipine Bordnerin. [6] [7]

1755 Heinrich and Maria Barbara Kann were sponsors at the baptism in March of Heinrich Kann, son of Gorg Michel Kann and Anna Barbara Kann. [8]

1756 Anna Barbara Kann, daughter of Heinrich Kann and Anna Barbara Kann, was baptized in June with sponsors Gorg Michel Kann and Anna Barbara Kann. [9]

1756 Henry, son of Charles and Phillipina Schaffer, was baptized on July 25 with sponsors Henry and Anna Barbara Kann. [10] [11]

1762 Henry Kann was listed as a Kreutz Creek Reformed member as early as 1762. [12]

1768 Henry Kann received a warrant dated April 13 and patented 250 acres in Manor Springetsbury, Hellam Twp, York County (previously Lancaster County). The survey, dated 1736 was to Nicholas Kahn [Conn] granted on October 20, 1736 by Thomas Penn in Lancaster County. Adjacent landowners included Henry Bahn, Daniel Harman, Ulrich Strickler, Michael Kuntz, Henry Stance, and Adam Bayard. [13] [14] [15] [16]

1778 Henry Kann [Cann] was fined (Captain Copenheffer's company, first class) £30.0.0 in York County. [17]

1786 Henry Cann was listed on the septennial census for Hellam Twp, York County, Pennsylvania. [18]

1790 Henry Conn lived in Hellam Twp, York County, Pennsylvania, in a household with 3 males age 16 and over, and 1 females.[19]

1793 Henry Kann was listed on the septennial census in 1793 in Hellam Twp, York County, Pennsylvania.[20]

1796 The will of Henry Kann [Kaun] was dated June 4, 1796 and was proved April 24, 1798 in Manchester Twp, York County, Pennsylvania. The estate was divided into 11 equal shares. Children: Michael (now in Virginia); John (now in Virginia); Philip; Henry; Daniel; John Jacob; Susanna wife of Michael Dersteen; Barbara previously wife of Heyer, and now married to Jacob Stohly; Catharine deceased wife of Frederick Ruhl; Mary Elizabeth wife of Philip Decker; and Magdalena deceased wife of John Kauffman. Grandchildren: John and Barbara Heyer, children of daughter Barbara, now wife of Jacob Stokly; and four children of Catharine Ruhl, deceased, late the wife of Frederick Ruhl, whose names were not given. On 19 March, Henry Kann wrote a codicil to his will to address the death of son John Jacob Kann. Executors: George and Adam Berd, Hellam Township. [21]

Research Notes:

The book by Budd about the Ruhl family indicates that child Catherine Eva Kann had maiden name Bortner with parents Henry Bortner and Anna Barbara with a prior marriage to Kann.
