1723-26 John Huber, son of Jacob and Anna Huber, was born about this time in Earl Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. [1] [2]

1750 John Huber (50 acres) and Martin Huber (100 acres) were taxed in Earl Twp, Lancaster County. [3]

1751 John Hover and Martin Hover were taxed in Earl Twp, Lancaster County. [4]

1754 John Hover and Martin Hover were taxed in Earl Twp, Lancaster County. [5]

1756 John Humer [sic, listed adjacent to Martin Huber, perhaps this John Huber] was taxed for 100 acres in Earl Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. [6] [7]

1757 John Hover and Martin Hover were taxed in Earl Twp, Lancaster County. [8]

1758 John Hover, Martin Hover, Peter Hover, George Hover Jr, George Hover Senior, and Christopher Hover were taxed in Earl Twp, Lancaster County. [9]

1760 "John Hoover enters a Caveat against a Warrant being granted to any other Person for a Tract of Land adjoining his other Land in Earl Township, Lancaster County, Surveyed as he says formerly to his Grandfather Hans Hoover," on July 30. [10] On November 10, "Jacob Yoner enters a Caveat against the Acceptance of a Survey made for John Hoover, on a Tract of Land situate in Earle Township, Lancaster County, the said Jacob Yoner having a prior Right to the said Land." [11] Brother Jacob Hoover entered caveats against Jacob Yoner in 1761, for land that had been surveyed for Jacob Hoover "upwards of twenty years ago". [12]

1763 John Hoober of Earl Twp bought 33¼ acres of land, in Earl Twp, Lancaster County, from Jacob & Christina Yoner, of Leacock Twp on February 23. The land had been patented to Jacob Yoner on February 6, 1761 [13]. The land was next to land of Jacob Yoner, Wendel Lechter, John Hoober, Martin Hoover, and Christian Musselman. A second tract of 35 acres, also patented by Jacob Yoner [14], was sold to John Hoober of Earl Twp, and was next to land of Wendel Leeken, John Hoober, and Joseph Groff. [15] John Hoover later sold this land to his son John Hoover Junior on May 30, 1785. [16] [17]

1765 At a meeting of the Board of Property on September 5, "Ordered that the 2 Caveats against Jacob Yoner, vizt. the 2 Garbers & Hoobers be both heard on the 24th Instant & that the parties & Jno. Scull have Notice in Writing to attend them." [18]

1769 John Hoober was taxed in Earl Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania for 420 acres, 200 cultivated, 4 horses, 6 cattle, 8 sheep, 200 acres old rights, 220 acres new rights. [19] [20]

1770 John Hoober was taxed in Earl Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania for 420 acres, 200 cultivated, 4 horses, 4 cattle, 12 sheep. [21]

1771 John Hober was taxed £3.0.0 for 424 acres, 4 horses, and 4 cattle in Earl Twp, Lancaster County. Brother Martin was also taxed. [22]

1771 John Hoover was on the traverse jury list for the Oyer and Terminer Court in Lancaster County. [23]

1771 John Hoober, perhaps this one, was called to testify at the Oyer and Terminer Court in Lancaster County concerning their knowledge of the murder of a certain William Regan. Dated April 25(?). [24]

1772 John Houver was taxed £3.0.0 for 424 acres (200 clear + 224 wooded), 4 horses, and 6 cattle in Earl Twp, Lancaster County. Brother Martin (80 clear + 120 woodland) was also taxed. [25] [26] Jno Hover was taxed as a freeman. [27]

1773 John Hauver was taxed £2.17.6 for 315 acres (215 wooded and 100 clear), 4 horses, and 4 cattle in Earl Twp, Lancaster County. Henry Houver (100 wooded+60 clear) and Martin Hoover (120 wooded+80 clear) were also taxed. [28] [29]

1779 John Hoover Senior and son Junior were taxed for 150 acres, 4 horses, and 10 cattle and 10 sheep in Earl Twp, Lancaster County. Brother Martin Senior, and sons, perhaps, Martin and Jacob were also taxed. [30] [31] [32] John Huber (not Senior) was taxed for 80 acres. [33] John Hoober was taxed as a freeman. [34]

1781 Jno Hoover Jun was taxed with 145 acres. Henry Hoover estate, Bastian Hoover (taylor), Jacob Hoover, and Martin Hoover Jr and Sr were taxed [36] Jno Hoover was taxed as a freeman. [37]

1782 Son John Hoover Junior was taxed £19.0.0 for 145 acres, 2 horses, and 3 cattle in Earl Twp, Lancaster County. Brother Martin Senior, and sons Martin and Jacob were also taxed. No separate listing was made for John Senior. [38]

1783 John Huber and Margaret Huber, of Earl Twp, sold 2 acres in Earl Twp to Balzar Bitzer, weaver, on February 12. The purpose was a wagon road. John Huber had purchased the land from Meredith Darlington in 1768. [39] [40]

1783 Margaret Huber reportedly died. [41]

1783 Son John Hoover Junior was taxed for 140 acres in Earl Twp, Lancaster County. Jacob (150 acres), Martin (200 acres),and Martin Jr (120 acres) Huber were also listed. [42]

1784 John Huber Senior, perhaps this one, and many other Lancaster County residents signed a petition about enlarging the market in Philadelphia. [43]

1785 John Hoover, of Earl Twp, sold land to his son Jacob Hoover on May 1. David Davis received a patent for the land in 1760, and the tract was eventually sold by Darlington to John Hoover. [44] [45]

1785 John Huber Senior, of Earl Twp, Lancaster County, sold 150 acres in Earl Township to John Hoover, Junior of Earl Township on May 30. It was part of a larger tract of 200 acres that was patented to grandfather Hans Huber on August 8, 1735. [46] Hans and wife Margaret sold it to son Jacob in 1745. Jacob and Anna sold it to son John Senior in 1754. It was the same land John Senior bought from Jacob and Christine Yoner of Leacock Twp in 1763. Several tracts of land were described. [47] [48]. John Huber also sold land to his son Martin Hoover on May 30.

1785 John Huber was taxed for 140 acres (perhaps this was John junior after the purchase from his father). Martin (225 acres), Martins place (200 acres), and Jacob (166 acres) Huber were also taxed. [49]

1785 John Huber, of Earl Twp, gave a mortgage to Jacob Hoover and wife Barbara of Earl Twp, Lancaster County, on May 1, for 15 obligations that were due. The mortgaged land was next to land of Jacob Weaver, Michael Raup, Alexander Martin, Rees Davis, John Baltzar Bitzer, and William Davis. John Hoover had purchased the land from Meredith and Sarah Darlington on December 17, 1768 and then sold it to son Jacob. Jacob and Barbara signed in German. The mortgage was paid on June 7, 1788. 1786 John Hoover was taxed for 140 acres, 3 horses, and 3 cattle in Earl Twp, Lancaster County. [51]

1790 John Huber lived in Earl Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania in a household with 1 male and 1 female. Adjacent census listings were for son John Junior Huber and for Jacob, Joseph and David Huber, perhaps sons or nephews. [52] [53]

1791 John Huber died in April 1791. [54] [55] The will of John Huber of Earl Twp, Lancaster County, was dated August 4, 1788. The will was in probate on April 30, 1791, in Lancaster County. Wendel Bowman and John Huber were named as executors. The will named nine children: Jacob, John, Martin, Barbara wife of Joseph Wenger, Margaret wife of Peter Burkholder, Anne wife of Henry Wenger, Elizabeth wife of Christian Bowman, Mary wife of Wendle Bowman, and Feronica wife of Jacob Hoover. 1791 John Huber died in April and was buried at Groffdale Mennonite Brick Church Cemetery, Leola, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. John Huber was born in 1723. [58] [59] [60] [61]

No documentation has been found for the surname of John Huber's wife. The name Mussel/Musselman has been proposed.

A biosketch reports [84]:

11.—John Huber 2, b. in Earl Twp., about 1723; d. in April, 1791 ; m. Margaret : b. —. d. in 1783 or 84. Mennonite; farmer; res. Earl Twp., Lancaster Co., Pa.; buried at Groffdale; issue: 19 Barbara; 20 Jacob; 21 Margaret; 22 John; 23 Anna; 24 Martin; 25 Elizabeth; 26 Mary; 27 Veronica. John Huber, grandson of Hans Huber, was born near New Holland early in the 18th century (1722 or 1723). His wife's maiden name is not known. He resided on the north portion of the tract of land his grandfather took up and spent his entire life there.

1792 John Huber, of Cocalico Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, wrote his will. The will was dated October 6, 1792 and was affirmed on December 15, 1792. The will named wife Susanna, eldest son John (under age 21), and children Jacob Huber, Anna Huber, and Susanna Huber. [85] This may be a descendant of Hans Ulrich Huber (not in our data).
