1743 Thomas Orr wrote his will on July 28. [1]

In the Name of God Amen I Thomas Orr of Portsmouth in the County of Southampton Gent being in good health and of perfect and disposing Mind and Memory do make publish and declare this my last will and Testament in manner and form following That is to say First I commend my Soul to God and my Body to the Earth Item all that my Messuage or Tenement with the Yard Backside and appurtenances thereunto belonging situate and being on the North side of the High Street in Portsmouth aforesaid now in my own possession I give devise and bequeath unto my wife Anne Orr her heirs and Assigns forever And I also give and bequeath to my said wife All my Household Goods Plate Linen Pictures Apparell Furniture and all other Things that shall be in or belonging to the said Messuage at the time of my Decease and also the Sum of six Hundred pounds of lawfull Money of Great Britain Item I give and bequeath to my said wife the Interest of the sum of fourteen Hundred Pounds during her natural Life to be paid her at four Quarterly payments in the Year the first payment to be made at the end of three Months next after my Decease. Item I give and bequeath unto my Brother Mr. Patrick Orr the Sum of fourteen hundred pounds And in case he shall happen to die before me Then I give eight Hundred pounds thereof to his Son the Reverend Mr. Thomas Orr And if the said Thomas the son shall happen to die before he is possessed of the said Legacy Then I give the same to the eldest son of the said Thomas and for want of a Son to such other child or Children as he shall leave at his Death equally to be divided between them And three hundred pounds more of the said fourteen Hundred Pounds I Give and bequeath to Patrick Orr Son of my said Brother Patrick and the remaining three hundred pounds I give to Jane the daughter of my said Brother And in case of the death of the said Patrick son of my said Brother and the said Jane or either of the before me Then I give the Legacy or Legacys of him or her so dying to the said Thomas Orr my said Brother's son. Item I give to my sister Elizabeth the wife of Mr James Willcock the sum of four hundred pounds and to my sister Margaret Browne the widow of Robert Browne deceased the sum of two hundred pounds All which Legacys herein before mentioned shall be paid within six months next after my decease Item all the Rest Residue and Remainder of my Money and Personal Estate what soever after payment of my Debts and Funeral Expences and also the the fourteen hundred pounds the Interst of which my wife is to have during Life as above mentioned I give and bequeath unto my Niece Isabella now the wife of George Atkins Esqr. her Executors Administrators and Assigns for Ever And I do hereby make nominate and appoint my said Niece Isabella Sole Executrix of this my will In witness whereof revoking all former Wills by me made I have hereunto set my hand and Seal the Twenty eighth day of July in the Year of our Lord 1743 and in the seventeenth Year of the Reign of his Majesty King George the second over Great Britain and Ireland. This Will was proved at London the twenty eighth day of February in the year of our Lord One Thousand seven hundred and Forty three … by the Oath of Isabella Atkins wife of George Atkins Esqr. sole Executrix named in the said will To whom was granted Administration …
