1917 Paul Holmes Hackstadt (age 25) registered for the draft on June 5. The registration card states that he was born on August 31, 1891, in Dowagiac, Michigan. He was assistant manager at E. A. Robertson & Co. in Saginaw, Michigan, and lived at 1610 Genesee Avenue in Saginaw. He was medium height, slender, and had blue eyes and brown hair. [1]

1917 Paul H. Hackstadt (age 26) and Achsah T. Fortney (age 21) were married on October 31 in Saginaw, Saginaw County, Michigan. Paul, son of E. L. Hackstatdt and Kittie Holmes, was born in Dowagiac, Michigan, and Achsah, daughter of J. W. Fordney and Katherine Harren, was born in Saginaw, Michigan. Both were residents of Saginaw and neither had been previously married. They were married by Edw. C. Lefevre, Catholic Priest. The witnesses were Neil Hackstadt and Mary Fordney, both of Saginaw. 1925 David Warren Hackstadt, son of Paul H Hackstadt and Theodetta Fordney was born on December 3. He died on February 5, 1996. [3]

1930 On April 21, Paul Hackstadt (age 38) and his wife Theodotta (age 33) lived at 1420 Gratiot Avenue in Saginaw, Saginaw County, Michigan with their children Paul H. (age 11), John (age 8), and David (age 4 4/12). Paul, Paul's parents, Theodotta, and the children were born in Michigan. Theodotta's father was born in Indiana and her mother in Canada. Paul and Theodotta were married when Paul was 26 and Theodotta was 21. Paul was the manager of a stock farm. [4]

1972 Paul H. Hackstadt died on April 2 in Olympia, Washington [5] [6], and was buried in Riverside Cemetery, Dowagiac, Cass County, Michigan. He was born on August 32, 1891.[7] An obituary states,

Hackstadt, Paul H.,
Olympia, Washington.
A resident of Saginaw for many years passed away Sunday afternoon, April 2, 1972. Age 80 years. He was born Aug. 31, 1891 in Dowagiac, Mich. and came to Saginaw about 1908, moving to Olympia in 1968. He served with the U.S. Army Air Force during World War I. He married Theodota Fordney in Saginaw. She survives him. He also leaves four sons, Paul Hackstadt, Jr., Puyallup, Wash.; John F. Hackstadt, Saginaw; David Hackstadt, Aberdeen, Wash., and Thomas Hackstadt of Olympia, Wash.; 14 grandchildren; one great grandchild. Funeral services will take place Wednesday at Olympia, Wash. Burial services will take place Thursday at Riverside Cemetery, Dowagiac, Mich.

1994 Achsah Theodota Fordney Hackstady died on August 14 and was buried in Riverside Cemetery, Dowagiac, Cass County, Michigan. She was born on July 2, 1896. [8] There is another Find A Grave memorial for her in Dowagiac City Park, Dowagiac, Cass County, Michigan, which states that she died in Olympia, Thurston County, Washington. [9]
