Notes for Benjamin Hershey and Elizabeth Lehman

1790 Benjamin Hershy and wife Elizabeth, Henry Landis and wife Elisabeth sold land to Jacob Naff and wife Mary of Hempfield Twp, on August 21. The land had been patented by Andrew Hershy in 1735 by patent A7-405 who bequeathed it to son Benjamin. Benjamin died intestate and the land was left to son Benjamin, and daughters Elisabeth married to Henry Landis and Mary married to Jacob Naff, the parties of this deed. [1] [2]

1815 Benjamin Hershey of Hempfield Twp, Lancaster County, wrote his will on August 7, and bequeathed land to wife Elizabeth and equal fourth shares to daughters Nancy and Elizabeth Hershey and sons Jacob and Benjamin Hershey. Some children, Jacob and perhaps Nancy, were under age. Brother-in-law John Leman the younger and John Swar Miller, both of Hempfield, were executors. Several tracts were mentioned, including land in Hempfield inherited from father-in-law John Leman the Elder in his will dated 31 July 1815. Probate on 10 November. [3]
