Notes for Frederick Haffner and Barbara Stahl

1773 Frederic Haffner was a witness at a baptism. Thomas Fricker, son of Anthony Fricker and his wife Margaret, was born on his patron saint's day [i. e. December 21], 1773, baptized January 9, in Anthony Fricker's house; sponsors Frederic Haffner and M. Theresa Fricker. [1]

1775 Frederic Haffner and Barbara Stahl were married on April 25. "Haffner—Stahl [marriage]: at the same time and place, Frederick Haffner to Barbara Stahl, both single; witnesses, George Kientz, George and M. Ermann. [Signed] Jo'es Bapt'a Ritter." [2] [3]

1776 Barbara Felix, daughter of Nicholas and Anna Marie Felix, was born on November 2, 1776. She was baptized on December 1 at Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania with sponsors Frederick and Barbara Haffner. [4]

1776 Catharine Haffner, daughter of Frederick and Barbara Haffner, was born on November 5, 1776 and was baptized on December 1 at Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania with sponsors Frederick and Catharine Haffner, grandparents of the child. [5] [6]

1777 On May 6, Widow Elizabeth Schauer sold lot 310 (dimension 60 by 230 feet) on the west side of Duke Street, Reading, Pennsylvania, to Frederick Haffner, shoemaker. Elizabeth Schauer had purchased the lot from Michal and Anna Maria Algeir on September 2, 1775. [7] An 1805 deed records the sale of this lot by Barbara Felix, widow of Frederick. This 1777 sale could have been made to either the father or to this Frederick Haffner.

1778 John Michael Haffner, son of Frederick and Barbara Haffner, was born on February 10, 1778 and was baptized the same day at Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania with sponsors John Michael Ruttner and his wife Catharine. [9] [10]

1778 Barbara Haffner, widow of Frederick Hoffner, cordwainer, posted bond and letters of administration were granted to her on March 25. [11] [12] [13]

1782 On March 11, an account of the estate of Frederick Hoffner, late of Reading Twp, Berks County, was by Martin Felix and his wife Barbara, late Barbara Hoffener, administer. Payments were made to Joseph Rettener, Catherina Hoffener, among others. [14] [15]

1782 Martin Felix and wife Barbara, widow and administratrix of Frederick Haffner, of Reading, petitioned the orphans court for a guardian of Michael, under age 14, only child of Frederick. [16]

1799 On 27 November, Martin Felix, intermarried with Barbara Haffner, widow and administratrix of Frederick Haffner, of Reading, who died intestate, petitioned the Orphans Court to sell property, from the estate, on the west side of Duke Street in the Borrough of Reading. It was sold to Sebastian Allgyer. The personal estate of Frederick Haffner was not sufficient to pay debts and to educate his minor children. [17] [18] [19]

1805 On January 23, Sebastian Allgaier purchased lot number 310 on the west side of Duke Street, from Martin and Barbara Felix (late Barbara Haffner, widow and administrator of the estate of Frederick Haffner). The lot was sold to pay debts and to pay for the education of minor children of Frederick Haffner, deceased. [20] [21]

Research Notes:

Perhaps Frederick was related to the Haffner family of Rockland Twp, Berks County.

1761 Frederich Haffner and Mareretha Daelmaenin were sponsors at the baptism of Mareretha Haffner, daughter of Jacob and Elisabeth Haffner in Rockland Twp, Berks County, Pennsylvania. [22]

1768 Geo Haffner was taxed as a landlord in Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania. [23]

1768-85 George Haffner was taxed in Rockland Twp, Berks County, Pennsylvania. [24]

1771 Johannes Haffner, son of Friederich and Catherine Haffner, was baptized with sponsors Elisabeth Bader and Johannes Haffner in Rockland Twp, Berks County. [25]

1788 The inventory papers for George Heffner of Rockland Twp, Berks County listed debts due of Frederick Heffner, George Heffner, Jacob Heffner, Anthony Heffner, and Henry Heffner. [26]
