1820 David Costner lived in West of the South Fork of the Catawba River, Lincoln County, North Carolina in a household with males: 1 (under 10), 2 (10 thru 15), and 1 (26 thru 44); and females: 1 (under 10) and 3 (10 thru 15). [3]

1830 David Caster lived in Lincoln County, North Carolina in a household with free white males: 1 (10 thru 14), 1 (20 thru 29), and 1 (50 thru 59); and free white females: 1 (15 thru 19) and 1 (30 thru 39); and 4 slaves. [4]

The birthdates we report for David and Margaret are undocumented, to our knowledge. The dates that we report are plausibly consistent with other documents we have found for them and their families. Other dates have been suggested. We seek documentation for their birthdates.

7. Margaret "Peggy" Rudisill (John Philip, 1). Born, circa 1785, in Gaston Co, NC.

She married David "Stiff" Costner. Born, circa 1788, in Gaston Co, NC. Lived on upper Long Creek near Bessemer City, NC. Thomas Costner and Jensie Lowe were David's parents. Thomas Costner was a veteran of the Revolutionary War, served in 1776 with Capt. Joseph Hawkins Co., and in 1781 served in Capt. William Moore's Co., probably York Co. militia, as he was born in York, Pa. He drew a pension for his Revolutionary War service.
