Idem abas tenet in Scottun feudum j. militis et terciam partem feudi j. militis. Robertus de Nevill' tenet illud de eo." [1] Complete Peerage cites this source for the statement that Sir Robert de Neville "held Manton and Scotton of Peterborough, 1210-1212." [2]

c 1214 Philip de Neville, son of Eustache, was born about 1214 (age 40 and more on 2 July 1254, the date of the Sussex IPM of Ralph de la Haye). [3]

1220/21 Ralph de Neville, son and heir of Sir Robert de Neville, "in Jan. 1220/1 was granted a market at his manor of Filey (Fislei till he should be of age. [4]

c 1224 John, son of Ralph de la Haye, was born about 1224 (age 30 on August 5, the date of Ralph's IPM in Lincoln). [5]

1254 Ralph de la Haye died before June 22, the date of the writ for his IPM. [6] The inquisitions state, [7]

1254 On July 21, the king ordered Philip de Neville, heir of his mother Eustache, to have seisin of the land that Eustache's second husband Ralph de la Haye had held by the courtesy of England. [8]

Pro Philippo de Nevill'.—Quia rex accepit per inquisicionem, quam per escaetorem regis in comitatu Norhamt' fieri fecit, quod Radulphus de Haya, qui mortuus est, non tenuit maneria de Brampton' et Haundeneby in feodo et hereditate, set ea tenuit per legem Anglie de hereditate Eustachie uxoris sue, eo quod prolem ex ea suscitavit, mandatum est predicto escaetori quod de maneriis predictis Philippo de Nevill' filio et heredi predicte Eustachie plenam seisinam habere faciat. Teste R. comite Cornubie apud Oxoniam xxj. die Julii. Per H. de Bathonia.

1254 On July 23, the king ordered John de la Haye to have seisin of the lands inherited from his father. [9]

De homagio capto.—Rex cepit fidelitatem Johannis filii et heredis Radulphi de Haya de omnibus terris et tenementis que idem Radulphus tenuit de rege in capite. Et quia idem idem (sic) Johannes manucepit satisfacere regi de relevio suo, cum declaratum fuerit cujusmodi relevium regi debeat, mandatum est escaetori regis in comitatu Sussex' quod de omnibus terris et tenementis de quibus idem Radulphus fuit seisitus in dominico suo ut de feodo die quo obiit, et que occasione mortis ejusdem Radulphi cepit in manum regis, eidem Johanni plenam seisinam habere faciat. Teste ut supra apud Oxoniam xxiij. die Julii. Per comitem.
