Notes for George Franklin Shawl and Anna Mary Brenizer

1870 Ritner and Sarah Brenizer lived in Shippensburg Twp, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania with children Jacob (age 14), Clara (age 7), Anna (age 3), and Ella M (age 2 months). [1] [2]

1880 Joseph R. Brenizer (age 53) and wife Sarah A. Brenizer (age 47) were listed at East Jackson, Darke County, Ohio with children Clara V (age 17), Anna M (age 14), Ella M (age 10), and John A (age 7). Clara and Anna were single and kept house with their mother Sarah. [3]

1880 George F Shall, nephew, age 17, born in Pennsylvania, single, lived in Jackson Twp, Darke County, Ohio, in a household with Joseph Eichelberger (age 31), Sarah C Eichelberger (age 28), Laura I Eichelberger (age 7), Caroline M Eichelberger (age 5), and Ira A Eichelberger (age 9m). George F Shall's parents were both born in Pennsylvania. George F Shall's occupation was farming. [4]

c 1877-1885 These photos belonged to Clara Brenizer Wolfe and were in a collection, preserved by Carol Wolfe, that included several pictures of young females, plausibly Clara and her sisters. Some of the pictures of Clara can be identified and pictures of another sister are likely of sister Ella. That suggests that the sister in these pictures was Anna Mary Brenizer.

1887 G. F. Shawl and A. M. Brenizer were married on September 25, in Darke County, Ohio. [5] [6] George and Anna Mary were married by G.W. Hoeffer in a double wedding with Cora Eichelberger and Sylvester Wolf. Over 100 guests attended the wedding at Cora's country home. Their marriage licenses were issued by probate judge S.L. Kolp. [7]

1888 Minnie Shawl, child of Frank Shawl and Mary Brenizer, was born on December 11, 1888, in Jackson Twp, Darke County, Ohio. [8]

1900 George F. Shawl (born Mar 1864, Carriage Blacksmith) and Annie M. (born Oct 1866, Dressmaker, married 12 years) lived in Union City, Jackson Twp, Darke County, Ohio with daughters Minnie M. (born Dec 1888), Edith P. (born Jan 1891), and Leah M. (born Feb 1893) and mother-in-law Sarah A. Brenizer (born Oct 1834, Dressmaker). They were living next door to Ira G. Wolf and wife Clara V and children Charles M, Grace B, and Homer N. [9] [10]

1904 George Shawl moved to Florida. [11]

1905 Frank Shawl was appointed superintendant of a new ice plant at Alachua County, Florida. [Photocopy, Newspaper notice.]

1907 "After a residence of several years in North Gainesville, Mr and Mrs. Frank Shawl with their family, have removed to Alachua. Mr Shawl has accepted a lucrative position with the ice company at that point." (Frank Shawl was Clara Brenizer's brother-in-law)[12] [Photocopy, Newspaper notice.]

1907-1908 Mrs. Mary Shawls and her daughters Minnie and Edith were listed as Charter members of the University City Church of Christ in Gainesville, Florida. [Story, University City Church of Christ, Gainesville, Florida, 2005.]

1909 A notice in the Gainesville Daily Sun reported that Mrs G.F. Shawl visited her daughter Mrs W.T. Gill (who is this?) in Gainesville.

1910 George F Shawl (age 46) and Anna Shawl (age 43) lived in Alachua Twp, Alachua County, Florida with children Minnie (age 21), Leah (age 17), and Loretta (age 7). Daughter Minnie Shawl was listed as married with no children, but no husband was listed. George was a foreman in an ice plant and Leah, age 17, was a book-keeper at the plant. [13] [14]

1916 A newspaper notice reported the death of Ira Wolf. G.F. Shawl of West Bradenton, was named as a brother-in-law of Ira Wolf. [15]

1920 George F Shawl (age 56) was an auto mechanic with Mary Shawl (age 53) and daughter Loretta (age 17) in Bradenton, Manatee County, Florida. [16] [17]

1920 "Mr and Mrs Shawl left Wednesday for Lakeland where they will spend the winter minths with their daughter Mrs. J. H. Fisher." [18]

1929 George F and Anna M Shawl lived in Bradenton, Florida. [19]

1930 George F Shall, age 66, born in Pennsylvania, married, first married at age 23, lived in Bradenton Twp, Manatee County, Florida, in a household with Annie M Shall (age 63). George F Shall's parents were both born in Pennsylvania. George F Shall's occupation was caretaker, Private Family, wage or salary worker. George F Shall's residence was not a farm. The residence did not have a radio. [20]

1935 George F Shawl (age 71) and Mary Ann Shawl (age 68) lived at 2833 River View Bvd, Precinct 19, Manateee County, Florida. They were born in Pennsylvania and had completed grammar school. [21] [22]

1936 George F Shawl lived at 2834 C, Bradenton County, Florida. George F Shawl's spouse was Anna Mary Shawl. George F Shawl's occupation was caretaker. [23]

1940 G.F. Shawl (age 76) and wife Mary (age 73) lived at 47 Riverview Blvd., Bradenton City, Manatee County, Florida. Clara Wolfe and Grace Wilson were lodgers at the same address. [24] [25]

1945 George F Shawl (age 81) and Mary Shawl (age 78) lived at 2706 1st Ave in Precinct 19, Rosedale, Manatee County, Florida. They were born in Pennsylvania. Frank had completed 7th grade. Mary had completed 10th grade. George was a yardman. [26] [27]

1945 Anna Mary Shawl died in Manatee County, Florida. [28] [29]
