Notes for Patrick Macky and Elizabeth Huett

1717 Patrick Macky and Elizabeth Huett were married in August at St Botolph, Bishopsgate, London. [1]

1727 "Mrs. Eliza. Macky [Wife] was buryed in their New Vault on the 13th of May" at St. John at Hackney, Middlesex. [2]

1756 Patrick Macky wrote his will on July 9. [3]

In the Name of God Amen I Patrick Macky late of Budge row in the City of London and now of London field near Hackney in the Parish of Hackney in the County of Middlesex Merchant being of Sound and disposing Mind and Memory and truly Sensible of the uncertainty of human life Do make and publish this my last will and Testament In the first Place I give and Devise unto my Nephew Robert Macky now of Budge Row in the City of London Merchant All that parte or parcel of Ground Situate lying and being in London field near Hackney in the Parish of Hackney with the messuage or house in which I Dwell Standing thereon and the Gardens and yard therunto belonging and the Brew house Coach house and Stable and other buildings thereon erected with all and every their rights Members and Appurtenances To have and to Hold to him the said Robert Macky his heirs and assigns forever. Item I Give and Devise unto my Neice Letitia Macky All that piece or parcel of Ground Situate lying and being in Thames Street in the City of London near Doctors Commons antiently known and commonly called by the name of Benards [sic, presumably Baynard's] Castle with the Sugar house and all other houses and buildings erected or that shall be erected thereon now in possession or Occupation of James Barkley by Virture of a Lease by me to him thereof made, To have and to hold all and Singular the said premisses with all their rights members appurtenances to the said Letitia Macky and her heirs for ever I also Give to the said Letitia a hundred pounds Bank annuitys Second Subscription to be transferred to her and her assigns within three Kalendar Months after my Decease Item I Devise and bequeath unto my Executors hereinafter named the Sum of Three thousand pounds now Vested in New South Seas Annuities and also another Sum of Three thousand pounds now vested in a Fund commonly called the Million Bank to and upon the Truste and to and for the uses Intents and purposes hereinafter mentioned and declared Viz. To pay out of the said funds so devised In Trust to them as aforesaid to the four Sons and Two Daughters of my Nephew John Macky of Agh Givey near Colerain in the County of Londonderry in the Kingdom of Ireland to wit to Thomas Patrick Robert and William and Jane and Elizabeth Macky the Sum of One thousand pounds English money to be paid to each and every of them when they shall attain to their respective ages of Twenty five years or when they or any of them shall be Married by and with the consent and Approbation of my said Executors hereinafter named. And in the mean time my Will and Intention is that so much of the annual Interest and produce of their said respective Legacys shall be laid out and Expended by their Uncle Robert Macky or in Case of his decease by my Surviving Executors upon their and each of their respective Maintenance and Education as shall be judged by him and them respectively to be proper and necessary and the remainder of the Interest if any is to be added to Increase their said Legacys and to be paid to them as their aforesadi Legacys are to be paid but in case any or either of them shall happen to dye or Marry without such the consent as aforesaid Then and in such Case my Will and Intention is and I do hereby direct that their said respective Sums of One thousand pounds each so devised to them as aforesaid be paid share and share alike unto their other Brothers or Brother and Sisters or Sister who shall be then living and shall be Entitled to their respective portions as aforesaid or at such time and and times respectively as they shall become Intitled thereto. Item I Give and bequeath to my three Neices Margaret Craighead now living in Pensilvania and Jane Stewart now or lately living near Rothmelton in the County of Donegal and Mary Brown now or lateley living near Strabane in the County of Tyrone in the Kingdon of Ireland Daughters of my Sister Margaret five hundred pounds Bank Annuitys Second Subscription each Item I Give and bequeath to my said Nephew Robert Macky his Executors and Administors In trust for my Nephew John Macky his Brother and his children All the Residue and Remainder of a Term of years granted to me by the Company of Ironmongers of London being the full fourth part of the Manor of Lizard Situtate lying and being near Colerain in the County of Londonderry in the Kingdom of Ireland for the Support and maintenance of him the said John Macky and his children during its continuation Subject Nevertheless to the Rent payable thereout to the said Company of Ironmongers and to the Several Covenantes in the said Lease contained And out of which I Direct and Appoint Twenty Pounds every year to be paid by the said John Macky to his Mother Jane Macky during the continuance of the said Lease if she shall so long live Item I leave and bequeath to the Protestant Charter Schools in Ireland the Sum of Fifty pounds and the like Sum of Fifty pounds for the Protestant Charity Schools in Scotland to be paid to the Treasurer or Treasures of the said Schools respectively by my said Executors as soon as they can conveniently pay the same. And I also bequeath the like Sum of Fifty pounds to Saint Thomas's hospital in Southwark to be paid to the Treasurer therof for the time being. And I also leave and bequeath to the Presbyterian fund in London to be paid to the Treasurer thereof for the time being the Sum of Fifty pounds to be distributed amongst poor ministers in the Country at the discretion of the Managers for the time being I Also Give and Devise to the Minister and Elders for the time being of the Congregation of Poor Dissenters at Rothmelton in the County of Donegal in the Kingdom of Ireland the Sum of Twenty pounds English Money to be distributed at their discretion amongst the poor of the said Congregation particularly such of them as are past their Labour by age or other Infirmities And I give and bequeath to the Reverend Mr William Hunt the dissenting Minister of Hackney the Sum of Fifty pounds And to my house keeper Mary Passfield the Sum of One hondred pounds And to each of my Servants who shall have continued in my Service for the Space of One year before and who shall be living with me at the time of my Decease the Sum of Ten Guineas to each such Servant And to such Servants who shall have lived with me a less time I Desire that they may be paid so much over and above their wages as my Executors shall think proper. And Lastly I Give Devise and bequeath to my said nephew Robert Macky his heirs Executors Administrators and Assigns All the Rest residue and remainder of my Real and personal Estate not doubting that he will take care of his Brother John Macky and his family as it becomes him to do But in Case my said Nephew Robert Macky should depart this life in the life time of the said John Macky either Intestate or without making any provision for the said John Macky then I Order that from and after my said nephew Robert Macky's decease an annuity of one hundred pounds a year be paid to the said John Macky for his Support during his natural life by four equal quarterly payments the first payment to be made three months after my said nephew Robert Macky's decease And I ordain constitute and appoint my said Nephew Robert Macky James Colebrook Esquire William Frasier of the City of London Merchant and John Ellicott of the same place watchmaker Executors of this my last Will and Testament and do Give to each of them the sum of Twenty Five pounds Sterling and so hereby desire them to Deposit my Body in the Vault lately made by me in the Church yard of Hackney in such a Decent mannor as they shall think fit. And in Case any thing may happen to prevent my nephew Robert Macky from acting as one of my Executors Then and in such case I do Nominate and Appoint my said neice Letitia Macky one of my Executors to act as such in the Room and place of my said Nephew Robert Macky In Witness whereof I have to this my Will containted in three Sheets of paper set my hand and Seal Viz my hand at the bottom of the two first Sheets of paper and to the last Sheet my hand and Seal this Ninth day of July In the year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and fifty Six and in the thirtieth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Second King Defender of the Faithe &c Pat. Macky Signed Sealed published and Declared by the above named Testator as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who in this presence and at his request have respectively Signed our names as Witnesses thereto (the words "in the country of Donegal and Mary Brown now or lately living near Strabane in" being Interlined between the Sixth and Seventh lines from the top of the Second Sheet before the Execution thereof) Nath: Neal - Wm. 1757 Patrick Macky was bured on June 16 at St John Hackney, Middlesex, England. [4]

1757 The will of Patrick Macky was proved in the Prerogative Court of Canterbury on July 2. [5]

This Will was proved at London the Second day of July in the year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and Fifty Seven ... by the oath of Robert Macky the Nephew and one of the Executors named in the said Will to whom Adminsitration was Granted ... power reserved to make the like Grant to James Colebrook Esquire William Frasier and John Ellicott the other Executors when they or either of them shall apply for the same.
