1778 William Hartman was born on February 17. [1] [2]

1781 Nancy Cullen was born in Caroline County, Virginia to John Cullen. [3]

1786 Nancy Cullen and her father settled at Bryant's Station, Kentucky. [4]

1801 William Hartman and Nancy Cullin were married on February 5 in Jessamine County, Kentucky. [5] [6] [7]

1820 On 1 June, "Marshal's Sale. Ohio District. By virtue of a writ of fi. fa. to me directed, from the United States District Court, in and for the District of Ohio, there will be exposed to public sale, at the house of William Hartman, on the 21st day of June next, one still and a number of small Tubs, one mare, one horse, one colt, and five head of cattle, Levied upon by James Vickers, deputy marshal, as the property of William Hartman and Philip Shipler, at the suit of the United States; to be sold for cash by me James Vickers." [8]

1820 William Hartman was a resident proprieter on land in Clermont County originally owned by William Lytle. Waterhead: East fork L.Miami. [9]

1820 William Hartman (age 26-45) lived in Williamsburg Twp, Clermont County, Ohio. [10]

1830 William Hartman (age 50-60) lived in Williamsburg Twp, Clermont County, Ohio Next door was father Christopher Hartman (age 80) and (brother) Isaac (age 50-60). [11]

1834 On 8 October, the first election in Jackson Twp, Clermont County, Ohio was held at the household of William Hartman. [12]

1837 William Hartman paid a personal tax in Jackson Twp, Clermont County, Ohio.

1837 William Hartman was justice of the peace in Clermont County, Ohio when he testified at the application of William's mother for veterans benefits.

1840 William Hartman (age 60-70) lived in Jackson Twp, Clermont County, Ohio, with female age 60-70 (Nancy) and 2 males and 4 females. Nearby lived William Hartman (age 20-30, perhaps son) and uncle Ezekiel Hutchinson (age 60-70). [13] [14]

1850 William Hartman (age 72, born NJ) and Nancy Hartman (age 69, born Virginia) lived in Jackson Twp, Clermont County, Ohio with Nancy (age 41), Elizabeth (age 38), Jane (age 30), Edmund C (age 29), James (age 27) and Sarah (age 24) were married, and Rachel Hutchinson (age 13, likely grand-daughter, daughter of Rachel). All the children were born in Ohio. William was a farmer with estate valued at $3000. Living next door were Margaret (age 28, born DC), Eliza (age 4), and Mary (age 1) Hutchinson. [15] [16]

1857 Nancy Cullen Hartman died on December 15 and was buried at Hartman Cemetery, Williamsburg, Clermont County, Ohio. Nancy Cullen Hartman was born in 1781. [17] [18]

1858 On 3 or 8 May, William Hartman died at age 83?y 2m 21d and was buried at Hartman Cemetery, Clermont County, Ohio. [19] [20]

1857-58 William and Nancy Hartman were buried under one headstone in the Hartman Cemetery in Clermont County, Ohio. The headstone might indicate that William was a veteran of the War of 1812.

1859 William Hartman's estate was disputed and the original will was reportedly lost or destroyed. The court case on October 20, between James M Hartman versus Ed C Hartman (two sons of William Hartman) named parties: Ed C. Hartman, Wm Hartman, Mary Hunter, AK Hunter, William Abernathy, Sarah Abernathy, Wilson Dunham, Eliza Dunham, Rachel Hadley, Caleb S Hadley, Mary Hatman, Jane Hartman, and Elizabeth Hartman. [21]. The estate was reportedly summarized in Clermont County Ohio Book 1-370 (not seen). [22]

1878 Son Edmund C. Hartman's will was dated on January 20, 1875 in Bakersfield, California. He died about April 25, 1877. The will was in probate court in Clermont, Ohio, USA, in June 28, 1878. He was formerly of Jackson Twp, Clermont County, Ohio. He owned the Van Kirk Farm on the Little Miami and Pleasant Run. The will named Rachel Hutchinson (Niece) spouse of Caleb Hadley, Rachel Hartman (Sister) spouse of Charles Westley Hutchinson, and equity in the estate of William Hartman (Father). [23]

A biosketch reports the names and birthdates of the children. [24]:

William, his [Christopher Hartman's] eldest son, also came with him, having been married to Nancy Cullen in 1801. She was a daughter of John Cullen, and was born in Caroline Co., Va., in 1781. In 1786 her father emigrated to Kentucky, settling at Bryant's Station. William Hartman was the father of thirteen children, - Fanny, born Jan. 15, 1802 ; Mary, Feb. 17, 1803 ; Nancy, July 20, 1804; Sarah, May 10, 1806; Rachel, June 22, 1808; Elizabeth, Dec. 16, 1810; Lucy and Catharine, Jan. 1, 1811 ; Eliza, Jan. 10, 1813; William, April 22, 1815 ; Jane, Oct. 4, 1818 ; Edmund J., Oct. 3, 1820 ; and James, May 25, 1823. Of these children, Mary, Nancy, Elizabeth, Jane, Sarah, and James are the only ones now living. William Hartman died May 8, 1858 ; his wife Dec. 15, 1857.

Some undocumented notes for the children came from a rootsweb site that had contradictory dates for their deaths and marrriages, so some of the reported facts could be wrong.
