In the name of god amen the ninthe daye of Aprill in the yeare of our Lorde god a thousand five hundred eightie nine And in the one and thirtie yeare of the raigne of our Soueraigne Ladye Elizabethe by the grace of god of England France and Ireland Queene defender of the faiethe ec' I John Strachie of Walden in the Countie of Essex draper beinge sick in bodye but perfect in mynde and remembrance lawde and prayse be given to Almightie god therefore doe make and ordeyne this my present testament conteyninge therin my Last will in manner and forme followinge First and principally I give and commend my soule into the mercifull hands of almightie god trustinge to be saved by and thoroughe the precius meritts of his sonne Christ Jhesus And my bodye to the earthe from whence it came to be buried at the discreation of myne executrix herein hereafter named nominated or otherwise ordeyned Item I give and divise to Emme my wife all those my Landes and tenements called or knowne by the name or names of Kolkes or by what other name or names soeuer they be called or named by withe all and euery their appurtenannces, to have and to hawlde all and euery the same Landes and tenements with all and singuler their appurtenannces to the saide Emme my wife her heirs and assignes for euer towards the payment of my debts and bringing upp of my small children Item I give and bequeathe to the saide Emme my wife for the better payment of my debts and bringing upp of my saide children all my goodes and chattels as well reall as personall moveables corne and grayne as well that whiche is soune and growing in the feildes as beinge in my houses plate howshould stuffe vtensills and all other my goodes whatsoeuer by what name or names soeuer they be called or named And I make and ordeyne the saide Emme my wife sole executrix of this my present testament And I vtterly revoke and adnull all former wills and testaments Legacies bequests and executors by me made or willed to be made given bequeathe or devised. In witnes whearof I have herevnto sett my hand and seale This beinge witnesses James Croste notarie publ William Malyn and Agnes his wife Amiable Godwin widowe William Strachie Signum dicti Joh'is Strachie.

1589 "John Strachie" was buried on June 12 at Saffron Walden, Essex, England. [13]

1589 The will of John Strachie was proved in the Prerogative Court of Canterbury and administration was granted to Emme his widow and executrix on July 16. [14]
