1554 "Thomas Abbot the sonne of Thomas Abbot was baptized the xxixth day of October" at St Barnabas, Chappel, Essex, England. [1]

1582 "Katherine Abbot the daughter of Thomas Abbot was baptized the x day of June" at St Barnabas, Chappel, Essex, England. [2]

1582 "Anne Abbot the wife of Thomas Abbot was buried the xxix day of June" at St Barnabas, Chappel, Essex, England. [3] [Research note: This Anne may have been the widow of the elder Thomas Abbott who died in 1576 (will proved 1 June 1576), but since the record says "wife" rather than "widow" of Thomas Abbott, this Anne may have been a first wife of the younger Thomas Abbott. There are no records for the years 1576-81, 1583, and 1584 in the Chappel register.]

1586 "George Abbott the sonne of Thomas Abbott was baptized the 24 day of November" at St Barnabas, Chappel, Essex, England. [4]

1589 "Margaret Abott the daughter of Thomas Abott was borne and baptized the 27 day of July" at St Barnabas, Chappel, Essex, England. [5]

1593 "Thomas Abott the sonne of Thomas Abott was borne and baptized the 4 day of November" at St Barnabas, Chappel, Essex, England. [6]

1609 On October 16, Thomas Abbott was named as a surety for a defendant in court case. "Recognizances of Robert Bryce, yeoman, Nicholas Nevell, gentleman, and Thomas Abbott, yeoman, for the appearance of Bryce and for the appearance of Bryce and for answering for an assault on John Hewton, all of Chappell. Taken before sir George Sayer, Knight." [7]

1612 "Anne Abbott the wife of Thomas Abbott died and was buried the xvj day of November" in St Barnabas, Chappel, Essex, England. [8]

1625 "Thomas Abboot died and was buried the 30 day of Maye" in St Barnabas, Chappel, Essex, England. [9]

1625 On October 6, an action in the administration of the estate of Thomas Abbott by his son George was recorded in a "feoffment for £70, with bond" by "George Abbott of 'Ponsbright alias Chappel', maltster, administrator for his father, Thomas Abbott, deceased, Thomas Longeley of Stoke-by Nayland (county Suffolk), yeoman, Thomas Abbott, b. of George, of Bulmer, yeoman, to Henry Burneby of Bures St. Mary, Yeoman" regarding "messuages and gardens called Barbors, formerly occupied by Richard Smith of Halesworth (co. Suffolk) barber." [10] [11] [12]
