1778 "Chaumont, John, [son of] of John Chaumont and his wife Anna Maria, born January 16, 1778, baptized April 5, at Reading; sponsors, Thomas Thum and Catharine Riittner." [1]

1779 "Chaumon [but seems it should read Chaumont, as in entry for April 5, 1778], Elizabeth, of John Chaumon and his wife Anna Maria, bom. July 17, 1779, baptized October 3, at Reading; sponsor?, Joseph Riittner and Barbara, grandparents of the child." [2]

1782 "Chaumont, John, [son of] of John Chaumont and his wife Anna M, born December 14, 1782, baptized April 6, in the chapel at Reading; sponsors, Joseph Chaumont and his wife Catharine, grandparents of the child." [3]

1788 On March 14, John and Anna Marie Shomo, of the town of Hamburgh in Windsor Township in Berks County, sold a tract of land called "Poney" in Brunswick Twp to Jacob and Peter Greesemer and Mathias Roads. Peter Filbert, sheriff of Berks had deeded the land to John Shomo in 1787. [4]

1790 John Shomo was listed in the census for Hamburg, Berks County, Pennsylvania in a houseohold with two males under age 16, two males over age 16, and three females. [5]

1794 Daughter Anna Maria Shomo was named in the will of Joseph Ritner, weaver, of the borough of Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania, [6]

1795 On April 28, John Shomo purchased land from the heirs of the estate of Lucas Meyer, of Bern Twp, Berks County. [7]

1800 John Shomo (age 45+) was listed in the census for Hamburg, Berks County, Pennsylvania in a houseohold with 4 younger males, one female (age 10-15) and one female (age 26-44). [8]

A biosketch reports [9]:

John Shomo was born in Berks Co. at Reading 1 May 1752 and died in Hamburg, Berks 5 May 1836, age 84 years, 4 days. He married Berks County about 1776 to Anna Maria Ruttner/Ritner a daughter of Joseph Ruttner ...

Research Notes:

1813 On July 6, John and Barbara Shomo, of Hamburg, Windsor Twp, Berks County, sold land to David Neuhard. [10]

1818 On January 10, George Wheeler, son of William (deceased) and Barbara Wheeler, released John Shomo, of Hamburg, who had married widow Barbara Wheeler, from claims. [11]

1820 John Shomo, innkeeper, and wife Barbara were idebted to several persons and mentioned a parcel of land in Windsor Twp, Berks County. [12]
