1796 Mary Straley and Alexander West were married on January 24 in Harrison County, Virginia. Alexander was born in Accomac County, Virginia, on August 11, 1760. "He enlisted as a ranger and spy, May 1977 in Monongalia County, now Lewis County, Virginia, and served twenty months as a private under Captains James Booth and George Jackson, and also served with General George Rogers Clark." [1] [2]
Mary, widow of Alexander West, received a pension from March 1848-March 1957 in Wheeling, Virginia (now West Virginia). [3]
