2005 Fredda H. (Friday) Martin died on 21 August in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania. She was buried in Alderson Cemetery, Alderson, Greenbrier County, West Virginia. "The Patriot-News, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, August 23, 2005. Fredda H. (Friday) Martin, 88, of Country Meadows, Hampden Twp., passed away Sunday, August 21, 2005 in Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill. She was the widow of Dr. P.E. Martin, Jr., who died in 1976. They formerly lived on N. 2nd Street in Harrisburg. Friday was a native of Alderson, WV, and had resided in Charleston, WV for a number of years, where she was an employee of the Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company. In 1948, she transferred with the Telephone Company to Washington, D.C. During World War II, she was a Chief Yeoman in the U.S. Navy, serving a total of three years at the Potomac River Naval Command in Washington, D.C. and in Pearl Harbor, HI. She had been a resident of Harrisburg and Mechanicsburg since 1955 where she was a member of Baughman United Methodist Church, New Cumberland; the Civic Club of Harrisburg; the Garden Club of Harrisburg; Harrisburg Area Civic Garden Center; a life member of the Harrisburg Organ Society; Harrisburg Bridge Club; the Historical Society of Dauphin County; Friends of Fort Hunter; the Yellow Breeches Chapter of Questers and the Auxiliaries of Pinnacle Health and Holy Spirit Hospital. She was preceded in death by 7 sisters and a brother. Surviving are 11 nieces and nephews; 25 great-nieces and nephews; and 16 great-great-nieces and nephews; and her friend and care giver, Bonnie Snyder Johnston. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 25, 2005 in the Country Meadows Chapel, Sporting Hill Road, with her minister, the Reverend Robert A. Graybill and Country Meadows Chaplain, the Reverend Robert Lehman officiating. Myers-Harner Funeral Home, Camp Hill, is handling arrangements. Burial will be in Alderson Cemetery, Alderson, WV, and will be handled by Lobban Funeral Home, Alderson, WV. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 3544 N. Progress Avenue, Suite 202, Harrisburg, PA 17110, or to her church, 3rd & Bridge Streets, New Cumberland, PA 17070." [1]
