1844 George A Crosby and Elizabeth Jolly were married on December 19, in Brown County, Ohio. [1]

1850 George A Crobey (age 38, born in Kentucky) lived in Hendricks Twp, Shelby County, Indiana, in a household with Elizabeth Crobey (age 24), Mary M Crobey (age 4), and Nancy C Crobey (age 2). [2]

1860 George A Crosby (age 49, born in Kentucky) lived in Hendricks Twp, Shelby County, Indiana, in a household with Elizabeth Crosby (age 35), Martha Crosby (age 9), Darius F P Crosby (age 7), Phebe A Crosby (age 5), Joseph F Crosby (age 2), and Elizabeth Crosby (age 78). George A Crosby's occupation was farmer. [3]

1878 "At noon last Saturday, George Crosby, in the neighborhood of Boggstown, went to the woods to cut wood; not returning in the evening search was made; and at about 10 o'clock at night his dead body was found near where he had been working. An inquest was held by Coroner Capp, but as there were no marks of violence to be found upon the body, the verdict was that he came to his death from natural causes, unknown to the jury. The opinion of those who knew him was that he died of heart disease." [4]

1914 Mrs Elizabeth Crosby died on November 27 and was buried at Forest Hill Cemetery, Shelbyville, Shelby County, Indiana. [5]

1914 Obituary. "Mrs. Elizabeth Crosby, 87 years, nine months and 17 days old, one of the highly esteemed aged ladies of the county, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Anderson, 419 Montgomery street, at 3:10 o'clock yesterday afternoon, from senility. For several years, deceased had been making her home with her son, George Crosby, in Sugar Creek township. Ten days ago, she came here to visit her daughter. The day following her arrival she took ill and had gradually grown worse until the end. Mrs. Crosby was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Jolly. She was born and reared in Ohio. At the age of twenty-two years she was united in marriage to George A. Crosby. Following the marriage they came to this county, where she had since resided. Eleven children were born ot the union, eight of whom survive. Her husband died in 1877 [sic]." [6]

1914 Obituary. "Mrs. Elizabeth Crosby, one of Shelby county's highly respected aged women, died at the home of her grandson, John Anderson, 419 Montgomery street, late Friday afternoon. She had been living for several years with her son, George Crosby, of Sugar Creek township, and became critically ill while on a short visit with the grandson in this city. … Mrs. Crosby died at the advanced age of eighty-seven years, nine months and seventeen days. … The deceased was born in Ohio, January 10, 1827, and was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Jolly. She was a resident of Ohio until her twenty-second year, when she married George A. Crosby and immediately afterwards came with him to Shelby county. This county has been her home ever since. Mr. Crosby died in 1877 [sic]. Mrs. Crosby during her life has been an earnest worker in the cause of Christianity and was a prominent member of the Second Mt. Pleasant Baptist church." [7]
