1467 April 26 County: Staffordshire. Shropshire. Place: Westminster. Date: One month from Easter, 7 Edward IV [26 April 1467]. Parties: Hugh Hexstall', clerk, and Robert Nedeham, querents, and John Bromley, knight, and Joan, his wife, deforciants. Property: 10 messuages, 3 tofts, 300 acres of land, 40 acres of meadow, 500 acres of pasture, 30 acres of wood, 14 pence of rent and a moiety of 1 mill in Bedulf', Rysheton', Norton' and Podmour' in the county of Stafford and 1 messuage, 60 acres of land and 3 acres of meadow in Grenehongur in the county of Shropshire. Action: Plea of covenant. Agreement: John and Joan have acknowledged the tenements to be the right of Hugh, as those which Hugh and Robert have of their gift, and have remised and quitclaimed them from themselves and the heirs of Joan to Hugh and Robert and the heirs of Hugh for ever. For this, Hugh and Robert have granted to John and Joan the tenements and have rendered them to them in the same court, to hold to John and Joan, of the chief lords for the lives of John and Joan. And after the decease of John and Joan the tenements shall remain to Margery, the wife of William Stanley, esquire, daughter of the aforesaid John and Joan, and the male heirs of her body, to hold of the chief lords for ever. In default of such heirs, remainder to the right heirs of Joan. Warranty: Warranty by Hugh and his heirs.
