Notes for John Branson and Meribah Davis

1791 The account of the estate of Isaac Ivins [father of Mary Davis] named his 32 living children and grand-children, including Mary Davis, and her ten children: Isaac Davis, Ann Davis (now wife of Jn Ely), Mary (now the wife of Jos. Rockhill), Merope (now the wife of Jn Bransen), Jonathan Davis, William Davis, Hannah (now the wife of D. Silvers), Abby (now the wife of Chas Robbins), Job Davis, Ivins Davis, each of whom received 1/32 share of the estate. 1793 Meribah Branson late Davis was reported for going out in marriage. Dated 3rd of 4m, 1793 at the Upper Springfield meeting. [2] A Test' was produced against Meribah Branson (late Davis) for outgoing in marriage … to the Upper Springfield meeting, dated 3rd, 7m, 1793. [3] This meeting … disowns Maribah Branson late Davis from being a member of our Religious Society for her going out in marriage with a man not in membership with us … [4]

1803 William Davis and wife Mary sold land to John Branson, all of New Hanover Twp, Burlington County. William Davis had purchased one tract from Thomson Neale and the other tract from Jonathan Davis. The deed was dated March 25. William Davis and Jonathan Davis were, perhaps, brothers-in-law of John Branson. [5]

1805 Thomas Harris and John Branson purchased land from Thomas Wright. The land was sold due to various debts of Cyrus Middleton. Elinor Middleton signed a quit claim for her dower rights to the property. The deed was dated 16th day of 9th month. [6]

1806 John Branson and Apollo Cook purchased land from Samuel Lamb, all of New Hanover Twp, Burlington County, New Jersey. The deed was dated November 7. [7]

1812 John Branson and Samuel Keeler, of New Hanover Twp, Burlington County, purchased land from the sheriff of Burlington County. Joseph Reckless lost the land due to a debt that Joseph owed to Ivins Davis. The deed was dated September 19. Note that Joseph Reckless and John Branson were sons-in-law of William Davis, father of Ivins Davis. [8]

1815 John Branson, of New Hanover Twp, Burlington County, purchased land from Jason Emley. [9]

1827 John Branson and others purchased land from Apollo Turner, all of New Hanover Twp, Burlington County. The land was sold due to debts of Apollo Turner. [10]

1830 John Branson Senior lived in Dover Twp, Monmouth County, New Jersey in a household with males: 1 (20 thru 29), 1 (50 thru 59), and 1 (60 thru 69); and females: 1 (5 thru 9) and 1 (50 thru 59). [11]

1834 Ivens Branson and Henrietta Solomon were married in Monmouth County, New Jersey. [12]

1840 John Branson lived in Burlington County, New Jersey in a household with males: 1 (20 thru 29) and 1 (70 thru 79); and females: 1 (5 thru 9), 1 (15 thru 19), and 1 (70 thru 79). [13]

1846 John Branson sold land to Ivins Branson, both of New Hanover Twp, Burlington County. John Branson had purchased the land from William and Mary Davis on March 25, 1803. [14]

1850 Meribah Branson (age 76, born in New Jersey) lived in New Hanover Twp, Burlington County, New Jersey, in a household with Ivin Branson (age 39), Henryetta Branson (age 39), John Branson (age 81), Arabella Branson (age 14), Orlanda Branson (age 12), Meribah Branson (age 25), Joseph Carter (age 15), and Hannah Bullock (age 81). [15]

1851 John Branson died on December 9, 1851 and was buried at Upper Springfield Friends Burying Ground, Wrightstown, Burlington County, New Jersey. John Branson was born on May 22, 1768. The Findagrave memorial reported that John Branson died at New Jersey. [16]

1852 Meribah Branson died on May 14 in New Jersey. [17]

1860 Henrietta Branson, daughter of Levi and Eliza R Solomon died on February 13, 1806 at age 69. [18] Henrietta was widowed when she died. [19]

1880 Orlando Branson (age 39, born in New Jersey, married) lived in New Hanover Twp, Burlington County, New Jersey in a household with Ella Branson (age 32), Samuel Branson (age 9), and William Branson (age 6). Orlando Branson's parents were both born in New Jersey. Orlando Branson's occupation was merchant. [20] [21]
