Notes for Jacob Good and Barbara

c 1680-1688 Jacob Good was born, in Michelfeld, Germany to father Jacob Gutt. [1] [2] [3]

1718 On 23 October, Jacob Good took up 225 acres in Upper Leacock Twp, Lancaster County, originally patented to brother Hans Good on 16 October 1740. [4] [5]

1729 In May, Jacob Good was naturalized in Leacock Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. [6]

1740 The land mentioned in the 1718 entry was patented to Jacob's brother Hans. [7]

Research Notes:

The research of Richard Davis differs from that in Jane Best [8] from this generation on. Richard Davis attributes the will dated 12 Sep 1739 (below) to this Jacob and consequently lists different children than does Best (the Best research is shown here).
Jacob Good of Martic Township in Lancaster County made his will on Sept. 12, 1739, which was proven Jan. 22, 1741/42 and recorded (Lancaster County Will B-579). Jacob mentions his wife Barbara and son-in-law Henry Hoover. Also named are his brothers, Peter Good and Hans Good as well as his sisters Fronica Good (wife of John Nisly), Margaret Good (wife of Lodwick Metz) and Ann Good (wife of John Strum). [9] [10]

He owned 180 acres which was surveyed but not yet patented in 1739 when he left the land to his son-in-law Henry Hoover. He first had 225 acres surveyed next to his brother Hans Good on 23 Oct 1718 in Leacock Twp which he vacated and his brother Hans patented in 1740. He warranted 75 acres on Pequea on 24 Jan 1733 which he left to his son-in-law Henry Hoover who patented the tract. Jacob was naturalized in Feb 1728 signing his name "Jacob Good" next to Hans Beyer and Samuel Beyer (both of Martic/Conestoga Twp). He also signed his name "Jacob Good on his will dated 12 Sep 1739.

1719 Jonanness Guth [11] and Jacob Guth [12] were listed as arriving in Lancaster County.
