Research Notes:

"John Burwell, from the Parish of Bovingdon, ... left an only child, Hannah, as sole heir to his estate in this country, and his large estate in England. The death of Mr. Burwell, while his daughter was an infant, left no person to look after his estate in England, and therefore it has never been recovered from the wrongful possessors, by the legal heirs of John Burwell. His daughter, Hannah, m. John Betts, Esq., of Norwalk, April 15, 1708. John Betts, Esq., d. in 1745" [4]

Hannah Burwell was sole heiress of her father and "to this day the estate in England is being fought for." [5]

Hannah Burwell was "Daughter and sole heir at law of John Burwell" [6]

Hinman's Catalogue of Puritan Settlers reports that, Hannah Burwell, daughter of John and Hannah (Lockwood) Burwell married "John Betts, Esq., of Norwalk, April 15, 1703.
