Notes for John Demill and Elizabeth Smith

1819 Elizabeth (Smith) Demill died on May 26 in Hampton, Kings County, New Brunswick. The Saint John City Gazette, reported on June 2, "d. Hampton, Kings County, Wednesday, age 58, Elizabeth w/o John D'Mill and eldest d/o late Nathan Smith of this city." [1]

1825 "Demill, John. Parish of Hampton, Kings Co, yeoman. Will dated 4 July 1822, proved 2 March 1825. To be buried by the side of my late wife in St. Paul's Church yard. Son Abraham D'Mill the rear of my farm. Two sons William D'Mill and John Thomas Smith D'Mill the rest of my farm, being Lot 3 and part of Lot 4, except one-fourth part of a piece of the marsh to son Henry D'Mill and one-fourth part of the same marsh to son Rufus D'Mill. William D'Mill to give my son Nathan D'Mill 25 pounds when he comes of age and the farm he has drawn, now in a state of nature, or to the amount of it. John Thomas Smith D'Mill to give Nathan D'Mill 25 pounds when he comes of age and to give my son Rufus D'Mill the farm he has drawn when he comes of age. Personal estate to be divided among my five sons. John Thomas Smith D'Mill my gold watch. Azor Hoyt of the parish of Kingston and William Rulofson of the parish of Hampton, yeomen, executors. Witnesses: James Cookson, Caleb Wetmore, Edward Sharland. Codicil dated 7 December 1823 bequeaths 5 shillings to son Abraham D'Mill. Codicil dated 11 December 1824 a mahogany chest to John T. S. D'Mill, a set of china ware to daughter Frances Elizabeth, and to next daughter Mary Anne 4 a large teaspoons and sugar tongs. Witness: James Cookson. Inventory dated 18 February 1825, values at 233 pounds by John Humbert, Edward F. Sharland and Monmouth Fowler." [2]
