1881 In the Canadian Census, John Ferguson (age 32) and his wife Sarah E. (age 31) lived in Bathurst, Gloucester, New Brunswick, with their children Mary E. age 5, Egbert R. age 3, Muriel G. age 2, and Sambo age 1. John was a merchant. John was of Scottish and Sarah of English ethnic origin. Their religion was Presbyterian.

1900 On June 7, John (age 51, born April 1849) and Bessie (age 50, born July 1849) Ferguson lived on Sussex Street, Hackensack, Bergen, New Jersey (Ward 2, District 29) with their children Mary E. (age 24, born March 1876), Egbert R. (age 22, born June 1877), Muiel G. (age 21, born July 1878), Walton C. (age 20, born April 1880), and Byron G. (age 16, born April 1884). John was a broker, Mary and Murial were school teachers, Egbert, Walter, and Byron were clerks, Egbert at a Gas Co., Walter at a Telephone Co., and Byron at an Electric Co. The family immigrated to the U.S. in 1883 and John was a naturalized citizen. Byron was born in Minnesota. The others were born in Canada as were the parents of Bessie. John's father was born in Scotland and his mother in Canada. [1]

1910 In the U.S. Census, Hackensack, Bergen, New Jersey (Ward 2, District 36): John and Sarah E. Ferguson lived with three their children Muiel, Walton, and Byron at 109 Sussex Street. John was a stock broker, Murial was school teacher, Walter was an Electrian at a Telephone Co., and Byron was a clerk at an Electric Co.

1920 In the U.S. Census, Hackensack, Bergen, New Jersey (Ward 2, District 36): Bessie Ferguson, widow, age 70, and her daughter Muriel, age 41, lived at 126 Essex Street. They were both born in Canada and immigrated and were naturalized in 1882.
