Notes for Benjamin Kurtz Miller and Annie McLean Smith

1870 Kurtz Miller (age 40, a lawyer born in Pennsylvania) and Annie (age 25, born in New Brunswick) lived in Ward 7, Milwaukee, Wisconsin with sons Galbraith (age 9), and William (age 7), both born in Wisconsin. Herbert Smith (age 19), a printer, born in New Brunswick, also lived in the household. This was likely Annie's younger brother. There were also two domestics. [1]

1880 Benj. K. Miller (age 50, born in Pennsylvania with both parents born in Pennsylvania), a lawyer, and wife Annie M. (age 35, born in New Brunswick, father born in New Brunswick, mother born in Nova Scotia) lived in District 125, 559 Marshall St., Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Also in the household were sons, Benj. K. (age 23) a lawyer, Geo. P. (age 21) at school, Wm. H. (age 17) at school, and daughter Madeline (age 8) at school. All of the children were listed as born in Wisconsin, with father born in Penn. and mother born in New B. (perhaps an error for birthplace of the mother of the sons) There were also two servants in the household. [2]

1893 On January 19, Benjamin K. Miller applied for a passport for himself, his wife Annie M. Miller, born in St. John, New Brunswick, on 19 June 1844, and his daughter Ella Madeleine Miller, born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on 11 November 1871. Benjamin was born in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, on 6 May 1830. [3]

1898 Benjamin K. Miller died on September 12 in Milwaukee, Wisconson and was buried in the Forest Home Cemetery in Milwaukee. "Benj. K. Miller, occupation lawyer, born 6 May 1830 in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, spouse of Annie M. L. Smith and son of Andrew J. Miller and Caroline E. Kurtz, died in Milwaukee, Wisconsin." [4] [5]

1899 Clement Clare Smith, son of Clement Smith and Elizabeth C. Lewis, and Madeleine Miller, daughter of Benjamin Kurts Miller and Annie M. Smith, were married on June 22 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. [6]

1900 On June 1, Mrs B.K. Miller lived in Ward 7, 559 Marshall St., Milwaukee, Wisconsin with her stepson B. K. Miller. He was a lawyer (age 42, born June 1857 in Wisconsin, father born in Pennsylvania and his mother was born in NY). She was a widow (age 55, born June 1844). She immigrated in 1869. She had had one child and that child was living. She and both of her parents were born in Canada (English). There are also three servants in the household. [7]

1910 Anna M. Miller lived in Ward 7, 559 Marshall St., Milwaukee, Wisconsin with her (step)son Benjamin K. Miller. He was a lawyer (age 52, born in Wisconsin, father born in Pennsylvania and mother born in NY). Anna was a widow (age 73?). She and both of her parents were born in Canada (English). [8]

1920 Benjamin Miller (age 62, born in Wisconsin, father born in Pennsylvania, mother born in NY) was a lodger in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and had no occupation. [9]

1933 "Annie M. Miller, wife of Benjamin K. Miller, 1844-1933" was buried in Forest Home Cemetery in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. [10]
