2008 Obituary, Friday, March 7, The Washington Post, Egbert R. Ferguson Jr., Lawyer: Egbert R. "Bert" Ferguson Jr., 95, a lawyer who specialized in estate planning, died Feb. 15 of congestive heart failure at his home in Bethesda. Mr. Ferguson was born in Cincinnati and grew up in Cleveland. He moved to Washington in 1929 to attend Georgetown University, from which he graduated. He graduated from the university's law school in 1936. During World War II, he served in the Navy in the Atlantic and Pacific fleets. He was commander of two destroyer escorts, the USS Bull and the USS Daniel T. Griffin. Mr. Ferguson began a private practice in estate law after the war and continued to work until he retired in his mid-80s. He was a member of the Church of the Little Flower in Bethesda, the Kenwood Golf and Country Club and the Chevy Chase Club. He was past president of the archdiocese of Washington's Catholic Youth Organization. His wife of 57 years, Rita McKenna Ferguson, died in 1994. Survivors include three children, Mary Gay Mutino of Bethesda, James K. Ferguson of Chevy Chase and Judy F. Taylor of Winchester, Mass.; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
