Notes for Hugh Dickman and Grace

1661 On 10 June, Hugh Dickman and William Nick [constable of Marblehead] deposed in a court case [held at Salem, perhaps] concerning payment for fish that "they heard John Deverick say that there was belonging to the voyage now in controversy, delivered to Mr. Filldor, eighty odd quintals of fish." [1]

1661 On 6th day, 9th month, Hugh Dickman was summoned to the court in Lynn, Massachusetts "for absence from public ordinances on the Lord's day". Hugh Dickman was found to be out of this jurisdiction by the constable of Lynn. [2]

1662 On 30 September, at a court held at Ipswich, Hugh Dickman of Lynn was presented for absence from meeting on the Sabbath day. Wit: Hugh Burt and Willym Miriam. [3]

1667 On 26 June, Hugh Dickman was admitted as an inhabitant of Portsmouth, Rhode Island. [7]

1674 On 6 of 9th month, Hannah Shattock and Restore Lippincott were married at William Shattock's house, Shrewsbury, Monmouth County, New Jersey. Witnessed by Hugh and Grace Dickman. [11] [12]

1677 On 12th of 4th month, Hugh Dickman [Dirckman] and Grace Dirkman, with Samuel Dennis and others, witnessed the marriage of Francis Borden and Jane Vicars at the house of Francis Borden in Shrewsbury, Monmouth County, New Jersey. [13] [14]

1676 John Fenwick granted a patent for 500 acres in his colony to Hugh Dickman of Shrewsbury Twp, Monmouth County, New Jersey. [15] [16]

1678 June 6. Return of survey to Hugh Dickman, of 500 acres along the Southside of Chohanzick River, between Worthe's plantation and Shrewesbury Creek. [17] [18]

1678 On 23 September, Grace Dickman died. " ... Dirkman the wife of Hugh Dirkman [deceased] in Shrewsbury, the 23rd of 7th mo 1678". [19] [20] [21]

1679 Hugh Dickman was listed as a patentee in Monmouth County, New Jersey. [22]

Hugh Dickman was listed as a settler in Shrewsbury, Monmouth County, New Jersey. [23]

1680 On 10th of 10th month, Hugh Dickman, Samuel Dennis, and others witnessed the marriage of George Curlis and Exercise Shattock at the home of William Shattock in Shrewsbury, Monmouth County, New Jersey. [24]

1680 On 2nd of 12th month, Hugh Dickman and Mary Dickman and others witnessed the marriage of Frances Jeffrey and Ann Worth at the home of Eliakim Wardell in Shrewsbury, Monmouth County, New Jersey. [25]

1683 May 26. Deed. Hugh Dickman of Shroesberry to Richard Leppencott of the same place, for one half share of the land on Norupsons Neck, in Shroesberry, E. Francis Jackson, W. a road. [26] [27]

1683 On November 23, Richard Lippincott, of Shrowesbery, dated his will. Wife Abegall. Sons Jacob, Freedom, Remembrance, John, Restore, daughter Incarnation (InCrease?). Land at Long Point. Personal property. The wife executrix. Witnesses Hugh Dickman, Judah Allen. Acknowledged by testator before Joseph Parker, Justice of the Peace, as his testament same day. [28]

1683-4 Jan. 2. Commission to Joseph Parker, John Hance and Eliakim Wardell of Shrewsbury to examine Abigaill Lepincott about her late husband's, Richard Leppincott's, will, with said will, dated 23d day 9th month (Nov.) 1683, which mentions: Sons Jacob, Freedom, Remembrance, John, Restore, daughter Increase, wife Abigail. No executor. Witnesses Hugh Dickman, Judah Allen. Administrator's bond of Abigail Lippincott with William Shattock and Francis Burden. [29] [30]

1687-8 Jan. 22. Do. to Francis Jacksone of Shroesberry, in right of Hugh Dickman, for 179 acres on Ramsants Neck, Monmouth County, N. E Thomas Hewett, S. E. Shroesberry R., S. W. a road, N. W. Naversinks R.; also 3 acres of meadow, N. William Shattock, E. Thomas Hewett, S. a small island, W. a road. Marginal note, dated April 26, 1694, says, that Francis Jackson reconveyed this land to the Proprietors. [31] [32]

1687 On 27th of 8th month, Hugh Dickman and others witnessed the marriage of John Sterkey and widow Mary Channelhouse at the public meeting house of Friends in Shrewsbury, Monmouth County, New Jersey. [33]

168[8] Patent to John Hans, for 247 acres in Shrewsbury, where John Hans now lives, S. the South R., called Shrosberry R., N. Neversinks R., W. Ephraim Allen, formerly Eliakim Wardell, E. Thomas Hewit, formerly Hugh Dickman, and a road. [34] [35]

1690 Hugh Dickman died. " ... ugh Dirkman [deceased] in Shrewsbury, the husband of Grace Dirkman, & c, 1690". [36] [37] [38]

1692 On 14th of 2nd month, Hugh Dickman and others witnessed the marriage of John Cheshire and Ann Sutton at the public meeting house of Friends in Shrewsbury, Monmouth County, New Jersey. [39]

1692 Sept. 14. Recorded. Hugh Dickman, yeoman, to Francis Jackson, carpenter, both of Shrowsbury, for the Eastern half of a lot there, bo't of Edward Thurston of Rhode Island June 17, 1675, adjoining Thomas Huet. [40] [41]

1694 May 19. Patent to Francis Jackson of Shrewsbury, in right of Edward Thurston and Hugh Dickman, for a lot there betw. Thomas Huet, Shrewsbury and Neversinks Rivers; a piece of the great meadow betw. said Huet, William Shattock and Ephraim Allen; 2 acres of meadow with a small hamock on Rackoon Island, S. W. the meadow, bo't by grantee of Edward Williams, N. W. Norwaticonk River; in all 90 acres. [42]

1694 May 21. Patent to Thomas Huet of Shrewsbury, in right of Richard Lippincott and Hugh Dickman, for 130 acres in said township, betw. Francis Jackson, William Shattock, John Hance, Ephraim Allen and the two rivers. [43] [44]
