1768 William Meakins was baptized in the parish church of St. Andrew, Hornchurch, Essex. “1768. Meakins – William, son of William & Rebecca 18. Sep.”  1803 Hannah Meakins died in August and was buried in Hornchurch, Essex. “Burials … 1803 … Meakins, Hannah Augt 26th.”  In his will written 15 April 1802, William Meakins bequeathed an annuity to his son William and the son’s “now wife Hannahe.” 1806 "Charles William Meakins Son of William Meakins and Sarah Ellener his wife was born May the 25 1806 and Admitted into Christs Flock this 31st of January 1807 At Havering atte Bower."  1810 Charles William Meakins was mentioned in the will of Mary, the widow of his grandfather William Meakins. Research Notes: Charles William Meakins and his family lived in the London area (Middlesex) in the mid 1820s. They moved to Montreal between 1832 and 1835 and then returned to England between 1837 and 1841. By 1851 they were back in Montreal and then moved to Hamilton, Ontario. The 1841 census says that Charles William Meakins (age 35) was not born in Middlesex, but it does not say where he was born. Evelyn Miles Krase wrote that Charles William Meakins was born in Rumford, Essex and that his father's name was William. The IGI lists a birth and baptism for a Charles Meekins in Billericay, Essex at approximately the same time as that of Charles William Meakins. Charles Meekins, baptism date 9 Nov 1806, baptism place Meeting House-Independ, Billericay, Essex, England, birth date 11 Apr 1806, father's name William Meekins, mother's name Sarah, indexing project (batch) number C06709-1, source film number 0593805 (RG4 1499). An Abraham Meekins was born 30 Dec 1807 and baptized 18 May 1808 and a George Meekins was born 9 Nov 1809 and baptized 22 Apr 1810 in the same place and to parents of the same name.
