Keats-Rohan provides a biosketch of Philip de Braose. [1]
Son and heir of William I de Braose, lord of Bramber in Sussex (Sanders, 108). Suceeding his father in Bramber and estates in the south-west of England c. 1093-6, he annexed Radnor and the cantref of Buileth by 1095, laying the basis for a Braose lordship in Wales which was maintained and subsequently augmented by the marriages of his heirs. He. d. between 1134 and 1155, leaving by his wife Aanor, daughter of Judhael of Totnes, a son William.
Philip Braose suceeded his father William about 1096. Philip conquered the lordships of Radnor and Builth and also acquired through his wife the lordship of Totnes (Devon). [2]
