Notes for Johannes Yingling and Margaret Elenora Bencker

c 1719 Johannes Yingling, second son of Abraham and Mary Yingling, was born in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. [1] He was age 23 when he was baptized in 1742, suggesting that he was born about 1719. [2]

1722 Margaret Bankert was baptized on May 12, in Wachenheim, Germany.

1740 Johannes Yingling and his brother Abraham moved to Pipe Creek 100, later Pine Creek and later Piney Creek 100, Prince George County (now Frederick County), Maryland. [3]

1740 Margaretha Elenora Beuckert [Bencker?] and Johannes Jüngling were married on September 19 (illegible), by Rev. John Casper Stoever at Conewago. [4] [5] [6] [7] [8] [9] [10]. They were married in Christ Lutheran Church, York, York County, Pennsylvania [11]. The church is now St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Hanover, York County, Pennsylvania. St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Hanover, was orginially called the Evangelical Lutheran Congregation on the Conewago. [12] [13]

1741 Susanna Yingling was born on October 10, 1741, the oldest of 15 children. She may have been baptized on October 11, the same day as her father. Her baptism in October, 1742 was witnessed by Jacob Benkert and Anna Margaret Fautz at St. Matthews Lutheran, Hanover, York County, Pennsylvania. [14] [15] [16] A translation reports [17]:



John Yingling has been baptized the 11th of Oct. 1742, His age was 23 years.
Born October 10, 1741. A daughter: Susan. Witnesses: Jacob Benkert, Anna Margaret Fautz. Baptized Oct. 1742.

1741 Susan, daughter of John Yingling, was born on October 10. She was baptized in October, 1742 with witnesses Jacob Benckert and Anna Margaret Fautz at St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hanover, York County, Pennsylvnia. [18] [19]

1743 Daughter Catherine was born on January 19 and was baptized in March, 1743, witnessed by Catherine Kützmüller. [20]

1747 Daughter Maria Magdalene (Maudlin) was born on December 29. [21]

1749 Daughter Anna Maria was born November 28. [22]

1757-58 John Yingland reportedly served in the French and Indian War with the Maryland militia with his brother Abraham in Captain Norris' Company. [23] [24] [25]

1758 John Yangland of Frederick County sold land to Frederick Tryor. Deed dated July 22. [26] [27]:

At the request of John Yangland the following deed was recorded August the 4th 1754. To wit. This indenture made the twenty second day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and fifty eight Between Frederick Tryor of the province of Maryland farmer of the one part and John Yangland of Frederick County in the Province af'd farmer of the other part witnesseth that for and in consideration of twenty pounds current money by him the said John Yangland well and truly paid or secured to be paid before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt thereof to the said Frederick Tryor so thereby acknowledge and from the same and every part thereof acquit exonerate and discharge The said John Yangland his heirs executors administrators and assigns hath given granted sold aligned transfered and set over and by these presents doeth give grant align sell transfer and make over unto him the said John Yengland his heirs executors administrators and assigns forever all that tracts on a parcel of land called James Fancie situate lying and being in Frederick County afsd beginning at a bounded white oak standing in a swamp and on the west side of grate pike creek and runing thence north forty one degrees east eighty perches then north eighty five degrees west sixty six pchs then south forty one degrees west one hundred and two ps then south eighty drs east fifty one ps then north seventy six … to the beginning containing and now laid out for forty one acres of land to have and hold the same unto him the sain John Yongland his heirs executors administrators and assigns for ever together with all the right title interest claim and demand whatsoever of him the said Fred'k Tryer his heirs executors or administrators of in or too the s'd land and premises with the appurtenance or any part or parcell thereof and the said Frederick Tryor doeth hereby for himself …

1766 John Yiengland of Frederick County received a patent for 182 acres named James's Fancy. [28]

1769 John Yingling sold 60 acres from James's Fancy to Peter Hessons. [29]

1771 John Yingland purchased 85 acres from Charles Carroll of Annapolis. [30]

1774 Johannes Yingling dated his will on September 4, in Frederick County, Maryland. [31] [32] [33] [34] [35] [36]:

In the name of God Amen. This fourth day of September, AD One thousand, seven hundred and seventy-four, I, John Yingling, of Frederick County and Province of Maryland, being sick very and weak of body, but of perfect mind and memory, thank God for the same. Knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament. That is first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hand of God that givith it, and my Body to the Earth, to be decently buried in a Christian manner at the discretion of my executors, and as touchimg my worldly Estate, I give, devise and depose of the same in the following manner and form, viz: It is my will and I do order that in the first place all my just debts and funeral charges be paid and satisfied.

Item. I give and bequeath unto Margaret Lenora, my beloved wife, all my plantation whereon I now live, together with all my Goods and Chattles Rights and Credits, to her proper Use and Behoof during the Term of time of four years, next after my Decease in order to defray the charges of keeping, clothing and educating of my young children, and paying off my just Debts, and at the end of the said four years it shall be all sold and the money arising therefrom shall be divided in the following manner, viz: I give and bequeath unto my aforesaid Wife the sum of twenty pounds currency, over and above one equal third part of my whole estate, both Real and Personal.

I give and bequeath unto my eldest son Frederick the sum of five pounds sterling, to be paid in one year, such Sale to be made aforesaid.

I give and bequeath the Residue of my Estate unto my fourteen children, viz: Susannah, Katherine, Maria Elizabeth, Frederich, Mauldin, Annie Maria, John, Jacob, Abraham, Margaret, Louisa, Christianna, Peter, and Hannah, to be equally divided among them and paid to those of them that are arrived to mature age in one year after such sale be made as aforesaid; and those of them which shall be in their minority shall receive their dividend each of them still as the arrive at maturity as aforesaid; and if any of them which are young should died before they arrive to age as aforesaid, then the share or legacy of such Deceased shall be equally divided amongst the Survivors.

And I do hereby Constitute make and ordain my dear wife, Margaret Lenora and Charles Angel to be my Executors to this my last Will and Testament. And I do utterly disallow, Revoke and disannul all and every other former Will, Testament, Legacies, and Executors by me in any wise before this time named. Willed bequeathed or ordered; Ratifying and Confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my Hand and Seal the day and year rist above written.

Probate records were dated September 16, 1774 in Frederick, Maryland.

1774 Johannes Yingling died on September 9 and was buried at Saint Marys Cemetery, Silver Run, Carroll County, Maryland. Johannes Yingling was born in 1719. [37] [38]

1779 The inventory of the estate of John Yingling was recorded on October 12, in Frederick County, Maryland, by David Shriver and Jacob Baum. Johannes Yingling, Jacob Bender?, and Lawras Spielman also signed, and were noted as "Kin" [39]

1780 The account of John Yenglen late of Frederick County, Maryland was made on 21 April 1780 by acting executor Charles Angel for £2193.15.9. Mentioned lands sold and goods in possession of the widow. [40]

1782 The tax list of Piney Creek Hundred of Frederick County, Maryland named several Yingland owners of land: Frederick (Frankfort, 150 acres), Jacob, John, Widow ("James Fancy" tract, 200 acres). [41] [42]

1790 Margaret Yengling lived in Frederick County, Maryland, and in a household with 2 females. Frederick and Jacob Yengling, perhaps two of her sons, were listed adjacent. [43]

1801 Jacob Yingling, John Yingling, and Doctor John Baker, all of Frederick County, were named as administrators for the estate of Margaret Yingling, late of Frederick County. Dated February 10. [44]

1801 Anna Margaretha Elenora Bankert Yingling died on March 10 and was buried at Saint Marys Cemetery, Silver Run, Carroll County, Maryland. Anna Margaretha Elenora Bankert Yingling was born on May 12, 1722. [45] [46]

1803 The account of the estate of Margaret Yingling, late of Frederick County, Maryland, was made on June 14, 1803 by acting executor Jacob Yingling for £67.11.1. Mentioned Peter Yingling, Abraham Yingling, Peter Erb, Jacob Yingling Jr, and Joseph Forney, among others. [47]

Research Notes:

1829 The will of Margaret Yingling of Frederick County, Maryland was dated December 27, 1828, with probate date January 26, 1829. Sons Benjamin and Jacob and daughter Catherine and grand-daughter Sarah Linzey were named. Executors were children Jacob and Catherine Yingling. [48]

1719 John Peter Yingling has been reported with birthdate January 4, 1718/19, in Salford Twp, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. We seek documentation for this event.

John Yingling, son of Christian Yingling and spouse of Margaret L. Beuckert, was named in an application to the Sons of the American Revolution. [49] [50]
