1445 William Ferrers, lord Groby, wrote his will on May 17. [1]

In Dei nomine Amen. Ego Willelmus Ferrers dominus de Groby xvijmo die mensis Maii anno Domini millesimo xlvto, in bona memoria mea existens, videns tamen periculum mortis imminere, condo testamentum meum in hunc modum. In primis lego aminam meam Deo corpusque meum sacre sepulture in prioratu sive monasterio de Ulvescrofte tradendum. Item volo quod Thomas filius meus habeat omnia bona mea existencia apud Groby, et quod disponat inde filiis meis et pro salute anime mee prout sibi melius expedire. Item volo quod idem Thomas filius meus dividat omnia bona mea que habeo hic in iste manerio meo de Odam Ferrers inter servientes meos tam maiores quam minores. Residuum vero omnium bonorum meorum do et lego eidem Thome filio meo ad disponendum inde pro aninia mea prout sibi melius videbitur expedire. Huius autem testamenti mei dictum Thomam filium meum facia et constituo executorem. Data et acta sunt premissa in manerio meo de Odam Ferrers die, mense et anno Domini supradictis, presentibus tunc ibidem discretis viris Willelmo Culpeper et Gilberto Faldryng testibus ad premissa vocatis et rogatis.

1445 The will of William Ferrers was proved on June 2. [2]

Probate ... Dated Lambeth, 2 June 1445. Commission to Thomas, son and executor, to furnish an inventory by St. Peter ad Vincula.

"William Ferrers, 6th baron of Groby, 16 yrs. old at his father's death, summoned from Nov. 30th, 1386, to Dec. 3rd, 1441. He d. in 1444. By Philippa, dau. of Roger lord Clifford, he had, l. Henry, who m. Isabell, 2nd dau. and coh. of Tho. Mobray, duke of Norfolk ... II. Thomas, ... III. John; from whom descended the Ferrerses of Mercute, now extinct." [3]
